Re: Wave Kiting Right of Ways - still confused

I can't answer for those locations. This is how we roll locally. While tacking out to sea assuming you are in an upwind enough position to get too the impact zone, whoever turns onto the swell first takes that swell and the wave associated with it. Simple. Job done. The tricky part is selecting the ...

Re: How to make a carbon design

Test your paint/resin combo first before doing a full coat on the board. A final resin coat will be more abrasion resistant but it will add weight. Weight you are probably trying to avoid with the use of carbon. Perhaps consider spraying a clear coat of paint rather than hot coat of resin. It will b...

Re: small race kites in high wind

You will surely be entertained with a small race foil on a hydrofoil in high winds. I haven't used one on the hydrofoil. But I have blazed a 7m R1 in 30+ knots on the kite buggy and it was stupendiculous! That said. Lei's are superior for gust absorption in those winds making them potentially faster.

Re: board sport risk comparison

Hmmmmm. I have a mate whose son has hemophilia and he does all sorts of impact related stuff. Racing bmx, mountan bikes, soccer.... I agree with others. Get more than one opinion. Also doctors do not neccessarily understand the sports they advice you not to do. Their advice is usually over courteous...

Re: gliding/carving with speed: kite falls (a good drifting kite)

Wow, the peak I tried was a terrible sack of shit. Too slow and terrible upwind, not dynamic at all.
It was an 8m and light wind. So maybe not a fair test. It was certainly significantly worse than the chrono in those winds.

Re: gliding/carving with speed: kite falls (a good drifting kite)

Yep + 1 for back stall option. Also pivot loop those bastards. Lastly foil kites are not as good as leis for deep downwind antic. Get yourself on an lei then you can go deep. Loop like crazy faster and also sometimes purposefully slack line for a period of time and then snap the kite back every time...
