Re: SW Colorado Snowkite Conditions

Hard to believe Taylor was light as much wind as we had again. Did you guys use sleds to get in there? I've tried to drive north to Taylor Park from Sargents but can only go so far in the winter. Also, I looked at my Gazetteer and can't find "Old Stevens" around Blue Mesa. Is it on the north or sout...

Re: SW Colorado Snowkite Conditions

Thanks for the beta on Creede Tommygun. Guys, I think I'm going to try and stick to my guns and shoot for Creede. I want to go down through Saguache and Del Norte to try and save some time instead of the longer route past Blue Mesa and through Lake City. I'm dying to know though how your sessions pa...

Re: SW Colorado Snowkite Conditions

Last year I had an incredible session in that valley near Rito Hondo Res. outside of Lake City. I'm thinking of zipping down from Salida on Thursday or Saturday to check it out again as the forecast is lookin pretty good. Has anyone been out there this year and if so, how is the snow coverage around...

Re: Salida co

Phil, if you're going to be hanging out around Salida, I would chose a 9 and a 13. I get a lot of mileage out of my 8 but I'm only 155 lbs. It can nuke at times but those two kites will cover you the best. Hope this helps!

Re: Salida co

Hey Phil, I live in Salida and it's a really small scene. I'd say there are about a half a dozen of us between Buena Vista and Salida with only two of us riding much. The snow in our valley has been pretty dismal this year so far...in fact, I've been dirt jumping my mountain bike more than flying my...

Re: Candyland!

Noah, out of the multitudes of sweet pics you've posted this winter, this set for some reason is just killing me! I guess it's because we've had so many warm days recently in Salida and I got skunked the past two outings...I'm not ready to let winter go and you're in the thick of it scoring yet agai...

Re: Colorado Mountain Kiting

I researched that spot after your first post a while ago about the failed attempt to make it to Baldy Cinco in a dying wind. It looks badass and is great to have as a Plan B in case we drive over from Salida and Rito is dead. Thanks for doing the legwork and posting the sweet pics! We may come down ...

Re: Portland vs Houston - which one would you move to?

I can't vouch for Texas but man can you get some variety in your kiting living in Portland. Go East 60 miles to the Gorge if the forecast looks good or go west 2 hours to Lincoln City/Newport/Florence for some of the sweetest wave riding ever if the Gorge shuts down. If you're lucky, you can get in ...

Re: 2-22-11 Heading to San Juans with Chasta & Crew

Three of us headed down from Salida and hit up that valley near Rito Hondo Reservoir on Sunday. We rolled into the empty parking lot at noon and were greeted by an Ozone windsock...a good sign. Winds were light from the South but did an abrupt 180 degree switch to the north and filled in to 10-15 mp...

Re: 2-22-11 Heading to San Juans with Chasta & Crew

Sweet Brian, thanks for the head's up. There are 2-3 of us up here in Salida (just two hours from Creede) and we'd love to cross paths if possible. Try to keep throwing out the updates this week and we'll find you guys if the wind blows down South.
Chris
