Re: Cabrinha Stacks the Top Ten...

Thanks for the explanation Pete I understand now what you mean. Personally I didn't read it that way, but I also knew about the race, i've done it before...so when I saw the press release I sort of already knew what the context was you could be right that other people might think the wording is misl...

Re: Cabrinha Stacks the Top Ten...

I am completely confused by the response to this post... before I start here is who I am so there is no ambiguity regarding my perspective my name is Patrick Rynne, I ride cabrinha kites because I honestly think they are the best for course racing. I'm good friends with many of the people who work f...

Re: The World's Fastest Kite. Period

i find it funny that when you talk to sailors who kite...they have no opinion either way whether kiting is "officially sailing" or not....they just like being on the water but for some reason when I refer to kiting as "sailing", often times the "core" kiters flip out and nearly scream "kiting isn't ...

Re: kitesurfing with loooong lines

super cool video! I agree...about what I would expect. notice when you get pulled out of the water...(time 2:08) the total force is a bit more than the riders weight (i read a peak of about 85kg. I would LOVE to see i similar video where you fix the kite to an immovable object on the ground, and som...

Re: kitesurfing with loooong lines

ok i promise...last thing another thing we aren't really talking about is apparent wind. When we dive our kites, we immediately accelerate...this creates a shift in the apparent wind that completely changes the problem. BUT imagine fixing your kite to the ground so that it cannot move...and then sta...

Re: kitesurfing with loooong lines

I believe the main problem I have with this analysis is the use of 13m square to calculate drag for the kite. The value should actually be much less than that as it would be based on the cross sectional area as presented to the wind (in the same way he used the lines diameter). There would also be ...
