Re: Globe Kites TRIX 2008

Valves aren't glued, they are welded. Which is typically adequate, but after many years, and depending on environment of storage, this bond can fail. Invest in a tube of Aquaseal or something similar (flexible urethane glue) and reglue your valves. Clean, roughen, degrease, apply glue on both sides,...

progressing at what feels like a really fast pace.
I take that it's partly due to getting many more sessions per season, not having to wait till it's over 20kts to have a lively board under your feet.
and of course the cumulative result of the past 30yrs.

Re: High wind foiling

I guess it depends heavily on the spot and wind direction, but at my local ocean beach in cross-onshore over 30kts, it gets quite rough. The ratio of whitewater to clean un-churned water isn't really favorable to foiling anymore. The water condition is actually more of a problem than the strength of...

Re: Choosing Freeride foil

There are quite a few GoFoil packages that sell as end of stock or second hand, and they're worth a look.
I'm pretty stoked with the Kai for kiting. Good freeride option, all carbon, wing floats, super tough, no corrosion issues, and use the IWA front wing for wingfoiling or surf foiling...

Re: Depower rope WTF

It really is a shit design (...) because of their shit design... (...) this is retarded... ...thanks to that shitty design. (...) I see a pattern in there! You've been at that game for long enough, you know what works and what is suspiciously prone to wear or non-inspectable. If you really feel the...

Re: What’s your yearly kite budget?

The only thing I dislike, and dont do, is keeping gear I dont use. So either give it away, or if newer, sell it. One should only have gear that is ridden/used regularly :thumb: 8) Peter I'm a bit on the opposite side... I renew some kites once they have an obscene amount of use time, and I start lo...

Re: New Wetsuit Skunk stink....

Lesson learned here is to dry your suits and booties out after every use. I use a blower hanger for the suits and forced air boot drier for the booties and gloves, also no urination 👍 That's really a different issue. While there's plenty of potential to get horrible smells from piss and fermented b...

Re: high wind replacement for 6m + 8m sst..Reo or something else?

Honestly, for the mission’s you’re looking to fill the Enduro would be a better fit. They jump better, have more float in jumps, still turn amazing, reverse launch and are great on waves with good drift. I prefer the wave setting because it has the least bar pressure and turns the quickest. The onl...

Re: Kitemare warning about crossed lines!

Scary! Good reminder! But with that many people on the spot, it seems like you could have put the kite within grab reach of someone without even leaving the water or dropping your board first. They could even have held the kite for the 30 seconds it takes you to undo that twist and go out again. Dep...

Re: Off shore winds, yes or no?

Surfers have been surfing in offshore conditions for decades. It's not much more difficult to paddle in with a wing on your back. Surfers typically draw the line at about 25kts... And in that much wind, the wing would still add a non negligible amount of drag, making that swim back to shore quite a...
