Re: Snap Shackle problem

To answer your question : Back in the day when we (Briefly !!) used those, I used to braze/solder the split ring to be a ‘solid’ ring that still swivels in the pin. As others have said..this type of shackle should NOT be used as a safety release. Have you actually tried to release under even moderat...

Re: Camrig Gen4 for GoPro Hero-6

I’m also a big fan of the ugo mount. Started off with a beastmount but that broke on the 1st outing  Only issue I had with ugo is sometimes the inserts are hard to remove, particularly with cold fingers (probably because a bit of sand has got in). I’ve resolved this by drilling the ends and att...

Re: I bit the bullet...all your fault! Lol

Firstly I would question the suitability of your Shinn Capri for a 1st foil board. I suspect it has quite a bit of flex?, is a bit narrow and it does have lots of sharp corners (which WILL attack you in the learning stages!). However if you are dead set on this plan: One of the 1st things I would do...

Re: Best way to add bolt threads in the board for the mast when building board?

Any reason I couldn't use a coupling nut as an insert? Like this: https://www.aimsindustrial.com.au/m8-nut-depth-24mm-316-stainless-steel-hex-coupling It would most likely pull out since the only thing holding it in would be the outer edge under the glass. T-bolts are cheap and designed to hold in....

Re: Best way to add bolt threads in the board for the mast when building board?

I’m going to be building a basic wood foil board made out of pawlownia glassed 6oz top and bottom. I’m going to use stainless t-nuts for the foil mount inserts. Dumb question, probably, but should I put the t-nuts in before or after glassing? If before, I would assume I’d need to cover the female e...

Re: 3D Printed Wings - please post your experiences here

Water ingress! This is a real shame and might be a general problem with printed parts in a water environment. I suppose any design that is not solid has the potential to soak up water. Apart from the weight issue there is also the possibility of water leaking back out during storage/transport. Given...
