Long lines won't solve the straight downwind problem. The problem is that, to go directly downwind faster than the wind, you have to make the wind work against the water in the downwind direction.

... Not straight Downwind, but very close. On race gear overpowerd with a 21m, say 13kn gusting 15kn it is possible to ride at an angle close to 155deg where 180deg is dead Downwind. Speeds a little over 30kn so the vmg will be more than twice the actual wind speed. A Dumb question , coming you way...
