Re: Something new from HQ Kites.

But to compare 18m Matrixx by its turning speed to a 18m inflatable does not make much sense. In reality not even 15m Matrixx turns as fast as decent big LEI, hardly 12m Matrixx either. There is many 9m foil kites which turn slower than 17m LEI. I mean, I did not test Matrixx side by side with an 1...

Re: Something new from HQ Kites.

Maybe this is a bit an off-topic; I was thinking of buying an Empulse but stumbled upon a very good deal on a HQ4 18m Matrixx. Yesterday I tried Matrixx for the first time. I do not have a huge experience with different foil kites but I used 1st generation Ozone Chrono 18m for one season so I have s...

Re: Do you need some rocker at tail of board

Right now I am riding the Alpine foil with Alpine board (142cm); when I ride the board I think it is pointing up a bit, especially at slower speeds, but it is hard to tell the exact angle when you are riding. I just want to have another universal board that can be used both as a surfboard and as a f...

Re: Do you need some rocker at tail of board

I suggest you place the board on your foil in your shop and use your eye to see how much you need to compensate for the tail rocker. Look from the side. I'd try to get the fuselage parallel with the area that you will stand on. With the nose up enough to give you 100 mm nose over that fuselage line...

Re: Do you need some rocker at tail of board

What I mean by tail rocker is not " tail kick," . It is the rocker from 1/3 up from tail to the tail. The foil is mounted on that curve. "Made a 120cm with 20mm tail rocker works great." I am planning to convert a kite surfboard to a foilboard. The surfboard, of course, has some rocker in the tail ...

Re: Wakeboard DIY build from XPS foam and Fiberglass

I have built several directional boards from XPS, a very good material; with XPS usually it is suggested to go over the surface with rough sandpaper so that the bond between the layup and the XPS is stronger and there is less risk of delamination. Hard for me to tell about the number of layers; for ...

Re: Do you need some rocker at tail of board

I do not think you need a tail rocker for hydrofoil boards. Totally flat works fine. I have a 140cm long Alpine board, there is no tail rocker.

Re: Lowend: Naish Boxer 12 2019 vrs 5 strutters like Switchblade or XR5?

I have a 12m Naish Boxer 2017/2018 but have not tested it against Core or Switchblade. However, it has definitely more grunt than 'regular' 12m kites. Few months ago I was riding with some friends, wind was around 5m/s (10 knots) sometimes more, sometimes less. My friend was riding a Gaastra Jet 13m...
