Re: Full face helmet for foiling?

Correct. All this gear is making us feel invincible. Far from it. One might wear a helmet with cage and never ever tell us about a nightmare of catching bar end in a cage. Or a line. Impossible? If someone wants to look like an ice hockey player while kite surfing, I can only imagine him driving a ...

Re: Should Toby start a crowdfunding to save KF?

Yeah FB is not really a good alternative IMO. FB is "free" but they have no obligation to keep the information. If we all contribute to KF I would like to see a model where we can be sure that the data is kept, backed up, and maybe a few trusted players have access to this data in case Toby is unab...

Re: Should Toby start a crowdfunding to save KF?

There is some truth that forums are dying because of social media abit like how he old bbs system died when the internet came in. Kiteboarder in the uk died out and its content was probably replaced by facebook etc. Kiteforum is a more resiliant because it is a global central source for kitesurfing ...

Re: Should Toby start a crowdfunding to save KF?

Less than 45 votes to fund out of the thousands of participants, we can do better I think. Regarding the sponsors, they have their own serious cash woes at the moment. We may need to pickup the slack to help Toby in keeping the site going for a while as things sort out. This site is a unique and va...

Re: Should Toby start a crowdfunding to save KF?

Is this because kite companies are not advertising? I would have thought the bandwidth and cpu usage would mean it could run on an economy website package maybe you are paying too much for a dedicated server that is not necessary. This forum is a great resource and also documents the history and pro...

Re: Full face helmet for foiling?

I wore an Ice Hockey Helmet while learning. There are no real negatives in my opinion except a bit heavy - I took some pretty high speed wipe outs and didnt notice any problems hitting the water at speed. They will rust with the salt water a bit over time but they are cheap and well made. THe one I ...

Re: LF thruster foil any good?

I would say there are easier foils to learn on than the Thruster. I have the Rocket and Impulse foil from Liquid Force and both are more suitable for a beginner. The thruster has a pointed front so this adds some danger when learning - it can flip up and smack you in the head. The Rocket Board is ni...

Re: Kitesurfing vs Windsurfing Injuries

Have done both sports for a number of years Windsurfing can be totally safe or dangerous depending on how you practice the sport. Kitesurfing is inherently dangerous and in a totally different league in terms of danger. Sure windsurfing can be dangerous if you ride in large waves, do very technical...

Re: Strutless Gong Kite Reviews?

Had the Gong 12m V3 Strutless ,OK but seems to get overloaded quickly (narrow wind range) Think that is fairly typical of strutless hence the popularity of single strut kites .Prefer the PLKB synergy single strut ,lighter and good price. I also have the 12m and you are absolutely right it has a lim...
