Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

I'll bet you when they say 8 knots they mean 8 knots with 5 foot @ 14 sec swell which is hardly the same as 8 knots in flat water. ... is that better or worse? Think about it like this, you can just paddle up on to the foil with the right swell hitting you and zero wind. So once you get a nice litt...

Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

Reports are that a 5m wing works in 8 knots of wind. Th I'm highly skeptical about what their definition of "works" may be... Maybe we're talking about Hawaiian knots! They probably are to be honest. I'll bet you when they say 8 knots they mean 8 knots with 5 foot @ 14 sec swell which is hardly the...

On the short list are Medano or Flag Beach and possibly the Algarve.
Medano and Flag will be very windy, maybe that's what you want but personally I'd rather foil in lighter winds so I'd go Algarve or stick to the Med like Toby suggested or even near Marbella.

Re: The All-New AV8 Collection from Cabrinha

That boost in their video looks like a tow up it's so high!

I think the name is hella stupid though. For those that don't get it, they are trying for a play on words AV8 == Aviate (aka aviator, aka aircraft pilot)

Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

It's interesting to note that Kai was riding a SUP board with that Ozone wing and if there was anyone I would have expected to ride a sub 50L board with a wing it would be Kai.

Re: Neil Pryde Glide Reports/Reviews?

Surf foils are great for beginners because they don't go too fast so the wipe outs don't hurt as much.

Check out this pumping video :
You need to keep in mind that he's pumping to stay on a reflected outgoing wave on the way out and pumping to stay on an incoming wave on the way in so he's only doing half the work that a flat water pumper would be doing.

Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

Oh man that video makes it look kinda painful having a huge red wing covering 80% of your vision the whole time. I hope people don't run over swimmers with these things! Robbie is on at least a 90L board in the video, but there are other videos of the Duotone Wing with people riding 60-80L boards st...

Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

That wing Robbie is using in the pic looks giant, maybe 7m or so I'd guess. I agree no windows would be a big mistake, but windows do add weight so it's a trade off. I don't see these things ever being used with boards less than 65L unless it's nuking out. With a 5m Peak 4 I'm able to water start on...

I shortened the lines to 14m today to make it easier to focus on other aspects than depowering. While I was at it I also removed 5th line.
