Re: Living and Kiting in Qatar

Blake from MacKite spends time in Qatar I think, look over some of his old vlogs or reach out to him directly for info.

Re: Goodbye to the sport that I love

Even slow foil surf wings you'll get some falls that will hurt. Best bet for you would be a softtop surfboard like I ride, they can be fun even when underpowered and that's the key to keeping it impact free, being underpowered. Now to be even safer you could go with a Shinnster. They are fun to ride...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

Had another go on the 5m Peak 4 on the weekend, this time in worse wind. About 8-9 knots, onshore. Also this time swapped the NP Surf L wing+stab for the S wing+stab. It was more of a workout than it was a kite session, especially with the 1-2 knots of onshore current with the incoming tide. At 75 k...

Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

Gunnar did a vlog on what I would do if I had a foil SUP board instead of a wing. I would even opt for longer lines, find the longest you can get away with water launching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MQjffgj9ZE I think these wings have a big thing going for them in that they don't require lesso...

Re: Gin Marabou Water Relaunchable Single Skin

I happened to witness one 6m Peak try on the water, it didn't end up well. Kiter lost control in a gust or something and was thrown to the beach, over quite large stones. How much wind was this in? The 6m peak is suited to foil in about 11-14 knots of wind and I have a hard time imagining getting t...

Re: Buying used lightwind kite Beginner Help

Is 2014 too old or will it be fine you think? I would do more research before pulling the trigger on that Flite. They have been around a while and I'm not sure if the earlier gens are as good. Gen 5/6 are were a big bit better I think. I have Gen 6 with only 2 pulleys myself. Gen 6's were being cle...

Re: Ocean Rodeo Jester

I would describe the OR Jester as the ideal lake surfboard. It's super fun to slash 2 foot lake chop waves with lots of kite power. It's great for strapless airs. The concave cuts through all the lake chop and is easy on the knees. On the ocean in real waves however, it's not really a surfboard. Thi...

In this video it looks like Jeffrey is riding a low volume board, it doesn't show him starting though:

Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

So maybe windfoil and wing-surf foil can ride in less wind than we can with kitefoils, because they can stand/uphaul on their boards There is nothing stopping you from using a SUP to bolt your foil on and go kiting, it's just that because we are so used to small light boards the idea of a 25 lbs 7 ...
