Re: Kitesurfing Brain Teaser

Interesting topic. I think zfennell is on the right track. If you over-sheet the kite, it will "stall" and crumble, loosing power and making you fall faster. If your kite is trimmed properly, than you will fall a bit faster than you would if you were to jump on a windy day. I think if you aggressive...

Re: Bad knee – advice please

This is interesting to read everyone's unique knee problem. I also suffer from knee pain almost ten years now. I worked it really hard from being in military for 6 years. I never tore any ligaments or blew my kneecap, but hiking for days with 50-60% of your body weight can seriously take its toll. A...

Re: Smallest diameter kite control bar?

If any of you are interested, Blade's new control bar is 25mm in the middle and narrows to 23mm at the ends. It's got a couple of other cool features which will be presented through a website dedicated just for the control bar... coming out later this week!

Re: rip curl flash-bomb wetsuit

I purchased a f-bomb a couple months. Its great wetsuit for surfing and kiteboarding. Comfortable, warm and drys quickly. The only problem I have with it kiteboarding is the water gets built up around my shins. My buddies call it elephant legs because it gets pretty wide. After a while it becomes an...

Re: mystic warrior or similar

I have experience with Dakine Renegade and Mystic Shadow. I currently ride with a 2012 Shadow. I am very happy with it. It's comfortable and doesnt cause me any back pains. It's also relatively light. I would have preferred a harness without the clicker bar, just the classic hook system, but Mysitc ...

Re: Buying my first kite

Do you guys really think it makes a difference to test kites when it is your first? I cannot for the life of understand what good that does? This is where doing your searches and reading up helps. Try to figure out what you want to do, and pick a kite that fits that use... I agree with tautologies....

Re: strapless surfkiting turns costly...

Last year when I was in Oahu, I was using an Amundson board. These boards are a bit pricey, but they shred and can withstand a beating. When I was talking to the shaper (John Amundson), he said he expects those boards to last him a full season... and he jumps the crap out of them. A season for him i...

El Gouna is a very fun kiting destination. I highly recommend it to the European kiters who are looking for a slightly exotic and different travel experience.

Re: kiteboarding bootie suggestions

I've used the The Rip Curl split toe for surfing.
It's very comfortable and has good direct feel with the board. If you need a warm bootie, i would suggest looking for something else.
