Re: tarifa - september?

October/November is a great time to go from a crowd perspective but if you are hoping to kite every day you might be disappointed. Due to the battling Poniente and Lavante winds Tarifa winds can be variable and at that time of year even more so. That said if you get a nice week of sunshine and Ponie...

Re: tarifa - september?

I haven't been to Tarifa in years so if my info is out of date I hope someone will correct me. There are two main spots - one at valdevaqueros and one at Dos Mares and the wind will dictate which one is best. http://www.playtarifa.com/en-US/contenidos/8/kitesurf-spots.aspx Where you stay also depend...

Re: Whats safest size kites? big kites or little kites?

In my view small kites are more dangerous due to the resons mentioned, ie faster and will get you into trouble quicker, plus high winds have the potential to be more gusty and of course we all know that's where the issues come. The exception being when you put up a big kite 12-16m and suddenly the w...

Re: Buying my first kite

As an ex-torch rider I would agree. It's an awesome kite and you wouldn't go wrong if you bought one and learnt on it, in fact any kite model/brand within the last 3 years would work. However if I was starting out I would go for one of the other models. You will progress faster and have more fun on ...

Re: top flat water places on earth

There are so many, the issue is which ones have guaranteed wind. Of the ones mentioned here Brazil has the biggest chance of consistent wind, Grand Cayman has the nicest water, Langebaan was a really cool experience despite my shark phobia , Mauritius is a beautiful place with lots of other things t...

Re: What is the perfect wind?

The wind strength is only one part of the equation, but to answer the question 20-25 knots. I am afraid I don't like kites bigger than 10m+ but I respect those that do.

Re: Wainman 6'1 Surf vs Firewire KFE

I love the firewire for kiting and surfing, such a beautiful shape, handles really well + all the usual claims about solid construction etc. Have had older Wainman boards and liked them but for me the firewire wins - but everything is personal.....
