Re: Len10 doing it again, this time even higher!!!

I think Tautologies point is valid, but the problem is it came across as an attack on the athlete, rather than on the video style. The problem isn't with the accomplishment -- no one can argue that isn't insanely courageous and skillful. As I see it, the problem is with the perspective of the viewer...

Big Island Hawaii?

A friend is visiting the Big Island and I have her partially convinced it would be a good idea to learn to kite. :D

Are there any kite schools or kite lessons to be had? My friend Mr. Google says no, so far.....any suggestions?

Re: Upwind - Launch of a Sport. The history of Kitesurfing

my virus checker (sophos) is not happy with the pirate bay either. I now mostly use isohunt ... maybe it's adware or something like that.

Stoked to check out the video.

Re: Inflatable LEI Trainers

Ocean rodeo rise sle 2m Flies just like a scaled down full size kite. Though quite fast moving. Could fly it at about 8kts, but have to work it to keep in air (good practice!) And it will backstall if you overpower it (also good practice!) It flies fast and with lots ofpower 12-20. Needs power to be...

Re: Finding the G... No Finding the sweet spot.

I find the sweet spot on my kite to be the point where I start talking to myself. What the hell am I doing? Do I really want to blow up my 12 right now? It's blowing 25, do I have a death wish? I get a little sweaty in the palms as I self launch with the depower slammed at the limit of it's throw. ...

Re: bws noise size

Thanks Mike. For really light winds, I co-own an older Cabrinha 16m ... it starts to work at 8kts, fun at 12-15, and you would not want anything to do with it at 18kts or more. I suspect the BWS 12m might have similar wind range or at least top end. The upper end of feeling safe with my Cab 12m is m...

Re: bws noise size

that 12 is like a 14m a big kite. depends what you are riding but the 10 will probably have a more usable wind range unless you ride in super light wind. Not sure what you mean about not much depower, mine have loads, the bar is brilliant. I have the 8,6,5 which takes me from about a solid 15mph+ t...

Re: bws noise size

PS maybe a shorter question after a long post ... those of you with experience of the BWS 12m, they way upper range is 18kts. Is it manageable up to low 20s, or does it quickly cross into scary out-of-control over-powered? I like the bar, but it seems to have less range of depower than other kites m...

Re: bws noise size

Reviving an old thread, if anyone in the know is still around. I got a good deal on a BWS quiver, 12m, 8m, 6m. I have used the 6m and 8m, quite happy with both of those. I am not sure about the 12m. I am replacing a Cabrinha Switchblade 12m (2010) that has been my go-to kite. I have been super impre...

Re: how to maintain speed when popping to toeside?

I forgot to add ... I don't yet do the hop and turn that you're talking about to get to toeside. I tried it once, caught my downwind edge, big wipeout, and haven't tried it since. :-? I either do a heelside to toeside carving turn for a transition, OR the little "sliding/wishbone" turn from the Prog...
