Re: Is this solo launch technique safe? - 5line C-kite

@kitezilla, I like that idea. I think it would be fairly easy for me to try that. All I have to do is set the 5th line stopper ball about 10' closer to the kite; where deploying the 5th would result in the kite flying on it's back (>10kts), instead of falling to the ground and being pinned down by ...

Re: twist cut fins - do it yourself

I hate to be a "Debbie Downer", but do you give any thought to the potential danger of this type of "racing fin" to the people involved in the race? I mean SHARP edges and foot and hand (and line) snagging NOTCHES everywhere. It would be one thing if these fins were to be used by one person at a tim...

http://www.kite-skills.com/index.php?op ... &Itemid=53 Nice find! Good collection of a variety of self-launch techniques. Thanks for posting that link. The only thing missing was a section at the end of each technique, showing what to do in order to recover, when the launch or the landing goes bad....

Re: Is this solo launch technique safe? - 5line C-kite

frankm1960, Enlarging on the question that Toby asked: How do you keep the kite sitting in a neutral, stable position...while you walk to the side? The only way I can imagine it staying in that position is when the wind is very light. Also, how do you keep the lines from snagging on the little rocks...

Re: Is this solo launch technique safe? - 5line C-kite

But with normal wind shifts the flying lines "should" stay slack and the 5th "should" keep the kite from taking off :) The assumption that the 5th line "should" keep the kite from taking off is questionable. I would change the second "should" to "should not". I base this comment on the fact that a ...
