Re: Downwind Faster Than The Wind - update

Maybe Gordon Lightfoot summarized it: "Through the woodland, through the valley Comes a horseman wild and free Tilting at the windmills passing Who can the brave young horseman be He is wild but he is mellow He is strong but he is weak He is cruel but he is gentle He is wise but he is meek Reaching ...

Re: Board leash for wave riding

I am in general not a fan of of board leashes, but I understand they can be necessary sometimes. What I don't like is the breakaway plastic. Doesn't really matter that it doesn't break often, the solution is not sustainable. It litters the reef, and it never disappears. Make your breakaway solution...

Re: Board leash for wave riding

ronnie, I am always impressed with your innovative potential solutions to problems. I hope you will do some force-testing to see if that pipe clip has the right properties for use as a "fusible link"... to answer such questions as: (1) will it release at a designated force? (2) will it release consi...

Re: Board leash for wave riding

One more thing...I think it is important that the leash design lets you cut through the leash with aline knife if you need to, There are many times when getting away from your board in the surf is a good thing. Good point Fred...A kiter should always have a "plan B" and "plan C". However, I used to...

Re: Board leash for wave riding

Below are listed 3 recent threads which discuss most aspects of the construction and use of a short board leash in surf kiting. There are many members of KF who see a need for the use of a board leash in certain situations. In the past 6 years, I have paid attention to the comments of the members in...

Re: Best Redline Performance Bar

Like most bars if we made them out of just fibreglass instead of carbon . Is the whole length of the bar tube made out of carbon fiber or just the center section? The reason I ask is, because a lot of the bars advertised as "carbon" actually have very little carbon in them, and are made mostly of f...

Re: Question about safety release/ flagging a Cabrinha Switc

IDS system which flags the kites out so that the pull (very little) is from the center of the leading edge which takes the flagging safety system to another level. Remember though, regardless of your safety system, always come in early if you see a nasty squall/storm approaching. Good judgement goe...

Re: Question about safety release/ flagging a Cabrinha Switc

Earlier today I stupidly failed to come to shore as a weather front approached and consequently found myself hugely overpowered on a 12m Switchblade in 35-40 knot gusts. After realising that I wouldn’t be able to ‘ride it out’ I attached my leach to flagging ring (located on the left rear leader li...
