Re: Wing foiling for high wind

Low winds, high winds, it's fun in all winds. If you're not having fun in the light winds then you're just on the wrong gear. Get a 6 meter wing and a big foil with a board 6' or smaller and you'll have a good time.

Re: Starter Board WingSUP

The foil on the bottom will allow the board to go up wind way easier than fins even when it's not on foil. But if you're not going to use a foil. Keep the board flat, pressure center to rear of board. Point the nose and let the fins guide you. Put the wing up high to get more lift instead of pull.

Re: Armstrong vs Axis

Metal is stiffer and Axis is the stiff'est which keeps from wobble effect while you sup. Also wobble causes loss of power in the foil.

Re: Tips for knee starting or water starting

Yes, I've actually ridden that F1 inflatable. A buddy of mine got it as his first board and I found it to make riding harder than using a 6' solid board cause of the bouncing of the nose. But to each their own. A good point of the inflatables is they're soft to fall on. I'm with Mike on the width, t...

Re: Tips for knee starting or water starting

In case anyone is wondering, the smaller the board that you can stand on, the lower the winds needed to get on foil. So my 5'1" 90 liter, I can pump onto foil 6-8 knots, if I'm on a 7 foot board, then I better have a solid 12-15 cause the more material in front of you the more negative effect on the...

Airush wind wing review

Got on the 6 meter airush wing a few days ago. Very fun wing. Here's my random notes on it. A bit over done on the handles and the windows are big but I never use them. You need to know how to do origami to get it back in the bag, so I put it in a solo 15.5 bag. The lift is more in the tail of the w...

Re: Tips for knee starting or water starting

Dksurfer, I'd go with the fanatic 95 liter or something around that depending on where you live for wing dedicated board. I'm 170 and use a 5'1@90 liter but I can drop down to 70 liters and still knee start but harder to do in rougher conditions. If you're going to sup foil also then just keep it 6'...

Re: high aspect foils

High aspect verses low aspect is a total preference, just like kite foiling. I like the pumpabilty and glide of the high aspect stuff but you'll get less lift into the turn with a flatter foil. Any day in the waves winging is a great day regardless of what foil I'm on.

Re: Tips for knee starting or water starting

Short and wide for board, what's your weight? Technique is to be on both knees and get off shore enough so that you can go down wind towards the beach, get to your feet, then on foil, then go up wind away from shore.

The Axis sup leash is what I use and it's great.
