Re: recomendations impact vest (with a bit of a rant)

Just checked out the Dakine vest. According to the website the largest they make is a medium. WTF. I am small by the standards of most kiters I know and I wouldn't buy a medium based on their size recommendations. Who are they marketing to?

Re: recomendations impact vest (with a bit of a rant)

Good and gentle people, Thank you one and all for your suggestions. In answer to why I want an impact vest, I am trying to learn to foil. As there is no wind I am doing it behind a boat driven by a woman who will benefit substantially from my life insurance policy. I am also the antithesis of natura...

recomendations impact vest (with a bit of a rant)

I would like to get an impact vest that is visible from space. Not necessarily distant galaxies but at least near earth orbit. I want boaters, jet skiers and others to have one less excuse for running me over. If I smash myself up I want to make it as easy as possible for someone to find my poor man...

Re: The fight against smelly gear

I worked as a commercial diver when I was young and even more stupid than currently. I agree with Dave1986. If you are in the water long enough you will "warm" your suit. Wash it with soap and a bit of gentle scrubbing whenever you have a chance. But always always always hang it to dry with it turne...

Re: Sun protection for face

Has anyone tried making their own zinc oxide type sun block?
The commercially available ones that I have used feel a lot like applying epoxy cement to your face both in application and removal and it is annoyingly expensive.
thx

Re: mybaggage.com - anyone tried this service already?

No they are a contract outfit. They contract with a local delivery service which in turn takes it to Fedex or UPS or some other carrier. They get a commercial rate while poor schmoes like us pay full freight. It is just some guy in a van or a bike who picks it up from your house or hotel. They don't...

Re: mybaggage.com - anyone tried this service already?

I used them to ship from Portugal to U.S. I very carefully measured everything and after they had shipped it they tried to bill me because the box was bigger than I had said. They wanted double the amount I had paid and were going to take it from the credit card that I had originally used for paymen...

Re: Kiteboarding with a kidney transplant?

You are probably on Immunosuppressants in which case what Dave_5280 said is important about areas of standing water and risk of infection. If it is a midline lower abdominal location than having a a bit of fat is a good thing as long as you haven't had any problems with incisional hernias. You defin...

learning to foil behind a boat

I am stuck in SW florida where there is no wind and yesterday the heat index was 127 F. Really. I am not kidding. I have it on good authority that it is cooler in hell. So I am thinking of buying a foil and towing behind the boat. I have no foil experience and no surfboard experience and would gener...
