Re: New Patagonia Gore-Tex Kiting Suit

I have a question. I have a couple wetsuits I use now that I bought used a couple years ago to see if I'd like the whole winter riding thing. I do like it mostly except having to get out of the wetsuit to go home and that in between time where I freeze. It's also a pain to get off. I am wanting to ...

Re: New Patagonia Gore-Tex Kiting Suit

I suggest using the overall straps (OR Soul comes with them and they are internal) and if that does not work go to either a seat harness or nitrous like board short harness. I make the switch when I break out the drysuit for this very reason. Thanks. I'll give this is a shot. I had the overall stra...

Re: Looking for Kokatat GFER and Ocean Rodeo Heat drysuit ex

I have roughly 20 sessions on my OR Soul drysuit and really like it. It's bone dry and has held up well - literally no signs of wear, even on the seals but then again I take really good care of my gear, rinsing it after use, treating the seals with aerospace 303, storing it the right way during the ...

Re: New Patagonia Gore-Tex Kiting Suit

http://tinyurl.com/plrganx Is this the 303 protectant that I need to use? Also, tried the suit out today. It worked great! No water in the suit at all and it breathed really well. Good mobility til my harness started riding up and the suit was riding up my crotch. Other than that, it was good. Yes,...

Re: Recommendation on cold weather kiteboarding gloves

I have used the glacier gloves down to low 40's and they work well but any colder than that my fingers freeze. Tried pouring warm/hot water on/in them during the session and this helps but it's only temporary. Friend suggested I try the NRS Toaster Mitts and they are magic :) I can kite well below f...

Re: So is the Second Hand / Resale Market that bad?

If I was a new kiter and I had the choice of buying a Switch kite brand new for the same price as others were selling used... guess what I would do. When you know little to nothing about kites your probably better off buying new... Good luck trying to sell that Switch kite - I more or less gave awa...

Re: New Patagonia Gore-Tex Kiting Suit

A quick tip for treating your gaskets with 303: Rather than use a towel or rag to apply the 303 just put on a pair of latex gloves. Spray the gasket with a small amount of 303 then use your hands to work it in. You will be amazed at how effective this is - you'll use far less 303 and it takes second...

Re: The Safety Topic: please post your experience and advice

A friend of mine, on our lake. Fortunately, he was trying to swim back to shore because the wind dropped to zero, so flat water, no waves etc. Eventually, we rescued him with a boat (in the picture, I'm the one in the water). It took more than an hour to untangle the lines from his legs without cut...

Re: New Patagonia Gore-Tex Kiting Suit

I'd much prefer a wetsuit for wave riding - don't like trying to swim in a drysuit. That said, there is something to be said for wearing an OR Soul, riding for several hours staying completely dry and warm, taking a break for lunch and getting back out on the water again without getting that damp ch...

Re: when, how often, what situation do you use safety releas

Light wind day, solo session with my 13m. Got the kite in the air, it was barely flying, turning it to keep it in the air while on the beach. All of a sudden a 40mph gust ripped through, pulling me across the beach and ready to loft with my kite at 11, 12 or 1. Heading toward the dune I punched out,...
