Re: Slingshot - what's happening? Is there a new designer or what?

Didn't the previous designer for switch (Bill Hanson?) go there a couple of years back?

Not saying he is the catalyst but it could be a good way of encouraging creativity by having more design experience onboard

Re: Best folding and line management technique

Just watching @Breze video and I drifted through to the videos of Horst launching in shallow and deep water. Lots of detail in both videos to take in. I notice that as Horst unrolls his lines he can pull the top and bottom lines to separate the bridles because the kite is preinflated but stalled so ...

Re: Best folding and line management technique

Most of the time short shaking left an right the bridle sort out the nest on my kites. It takes seconds not 15 minutes! I'm exaggerating here a little. The whole process from kite out of the bag to kite in the air is 15 minutes. That's about 3 times longer than it takes with an inflatable for me. I...

Best folding and line management technique

I'm new to foils (with a 2nd hand flysurfer soul) and so far self launching and landing has been stress free. Even drying a kite out after being caught in a rain shower has been easier than the equivalent fun with an LEI However every session so far starts with 15 minutes of playing with string. I h...

Re: Aluula? New Revolutionary Material from Ocean Rodeo

Thats probably your problem. You are using a high Y bar. The older flites (Gen4/5) did fly fine with a high Y bar but they also had 6 pulleys.

After gen 5 with the change to the low Y shift bar, the flites were optimised for a low Y bar.

Re: Flysurfer Soul

Ignoring whether the safety works (as I don't know), I'd have thought that as long as the overall length from the split point to the connectors is the same, you should be fine as the effective angles that the lines are pulling at is the same. E.g. if the split is 6m up on 20m lines, then adding 4m l...

Re: light wind surfboard vs foil board

I'd be surprised if it worked as low as 8 knots unless you are riding a very large kite (15-18m foil kite say and thats the same expense as a high end hydrofoil). That's the type of wind range that people stop kitefoiling in case the wind lulls. 10-11 knots might work depending on your kite. I could...

Re: heli loop not providing lift

That video is a lift loop Genuine question. What's the difference? I've seen plenty of people use a late heliloop just before landing and get a little increase in height. You can see it often at KOTA (though its always just before landing rather than high in the air so you don't have the opportunit...

Re: heli loop not providing lift

Can not say specifically what you do wrong. But heliloops does not increase overall hangtime, not possible. 8) Peter I have a video here that 'might' change your mind on that :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmnoAAVx7sU My understanding was a heliloop starts when the kite is behind you. Otherwise...

Re: GoPro 9

Have you guys tried to use selfie sticks ? I tried once in very gentle conditions and I think it gives a very good perspective where you can often see both the rider and the kite: https://vimeo.com/465261119 Not sure if it is really practicable in more usual conditions with real waves though. I lik...
