Re: That guy is dangerous

"look out for the guy with a helmet and seat harness because he is a kook noob". Total kook^ ^Probably just finished his first lesson^ ^Give this one a wide berth, definitely not safe on the water^ The KING of all KOOKS!!! Helmets make perfect sense in foiling because of the high risk of hitting a ...

Re: That guy is dangerous

"Link between using safety gear and being a kook does not exist." Nothing say kiteboarding safety like helmet and impact vest, checking an anemometer.. all sign of a highly experienced safety conscious rider. I would use a low buffer zone around these riders of about 4-5km. Let's continue this disc...

Re: That guy is dangerous

Looking cool is not what I care about, it's that they're uncomfortable and cause more pain/injury when crashing.

Re: That guy is dangerous

When I ride my twintip I will never use a helmet. I've had back edge crashes in boots coming out of unhooked tricks and kiteloops, they hurt but it was alright. By adding a lot more surface area and weight to my head the whiplash effect will be magnified a lot resulting in more pain and more stress ...

Re: That guy is dangerous

Nobody under 30 uses forums, it's for old people

Luckily where I kite there's kiters from any age group, 12-60+, majority in the 18-40 range.

Re: “That guy is dangerous”

Actively discouraging the use of safety equipment is an indication of the exact kind of attitude that gets you killed, other kiters injured, endangers rescue crews, and results in kiteboarding bans. Just because you desperately want to look cool, does not mean you should shame others for being brav...

Re: That guy is dangerous

This, these are the real dangerous 'kiters', we see loads of them in the summer, usually from other countries. Checklist: sunglasses (for on the water), impact vest, gloves, wetsuit booties, hood (in summer, wtf), helmet, seat harness, GoJoe, board leash. The more of the items are checked the more ...

Pure freestyle/big air, to much power in the turn unless you use it underpowered.

Re: “That guy is dangerous”

Without sounding to cliche it's the guys that show up with all the shiny new safety gear and brimming with Youtube knowledge that I keep an eye on, 2mins on the water is usually enough too see how much of a birth you need to give them. This, these are the real dangerous 'kiters', we see loads of th...

Re: Camber fatality

In The Netherlands nobody uses an helmet unless they wave kite or foil. The only ones you see with helmets are students or tourists, they usually create their own danger by not knowing where and how to launch, how to rig for the wind/skill and all kinds of other kook behavior. Helmets do increase th...
