Re: DIY Foil Kites

Thanks for sharing your experiences. When you make kites by yourself it is a burden to make it any more complicated than it has to be. I mean for instance if you double A line row attachment points. I once did that, there was perhaps 4-5cm distance between the connections. However kite flied and beh...

Re: Naish Torque Bar - flag line knot slipped through stopper

Yes I've seen that happen. It all goes down to have correct size of knot and hole respectively. In your case the issue is that plastic part which has a bit too big hole in it. I wouldn't recommend to make a bigger knot because it can stuck when quick release is used and then safety system of the kit...

Re: The Firefly V2 mod

In OP's case line lengths are not "just right" because there is a speed system and new lines are connected to C but located backwards. Kind of hack but because nature of these kites is so crude it will do somehow anyway and at least very probably it doesn't make kite worse (if added complexity, drag...

Re: The Firefly V2 mod

Oh I forgot about the flapping... just a tiny bit bar pressure and it’s gone.. when even that is too much.. rig smaller. This is how I cut back the flapping as well. Just keep a little pressure on the bar and it really helps. Works really well in overpowered condition too. Prevents the kite from de...

Re: soul pulling to one side

Long mixer test is not a magic word. Actually bundling several components together is a bit suspicious way to measure and adjust differences in kite bridle. It is true LMT is usually efficient and if you don't want to use your brain it is ok. But if you want to find out in where issues develop and i...

Re: DIY Foil Kites

Single skin kite is easier to sew but it has more bridle line which adds details and line work. As a concept I wouldn't say it is easier than normal foil kite, more like opposite. I've done couple of them with usual wing tip issues and after that designing Peak 4 type wingtips which helped, but it i...

Re: Can I Mix Kitesurfing Control Bars? - Fundamentals Ep02

I must say quite a lot BS there, but also some relevant if not trivial observations. But I'm not going to answer it in detail because I'm a bit tired of this subject. "...three adjustments on the steering line...Some bars make kites slower, others might add some bar pressure...every bar is built a b...

Re: Duotone 2021

there is so little intrinsic flex in the air frame that the kite can then be re-engineered to become a far more efficient and direct feeling wing. This obviously benefits both large and small kites. That is kind of interesting because when Best used DCF it was so stiff (according to them) that they...

Re: Ram air first session damage

Not that easy repair, unfortunately. I mean if done professionally, not making some hack fixes. If done properly there's no (greater) risk it will damage on that point again. Kite flying properties won't be affected.

Re: Eleveight CS vary 2021 vs 2020

Or it is fixed length for throw+depower: implying that the more bar throw you configure the less depower length you have and vice versa? If you increase bar throw you will lose same amount of depower range in trimmer. Depower line is one line which goes from the clam cleat through the bar down to c...
