Re: Europe is closed !

... Story has it that some tricky Icelanders decided to get back at the folks who want to default on their loans, i.e., most of northern Europe so they set about doing some very strange Icelandic dances around the base of the volcano with the hopes of gettin it to explode. Guess it worked. What do ...

Re: Europe is closed !

Some pictures of the mess causing this. Clouds reaching 30.000 feet and being blown over to Europe. Two figher jets in Finland were caught in it and it ruined their engines (before the no-flyzone alert was given). Unless you have a sandblast schedule for the inside of you aircraft engine. Stay away ...

Re: Ozone Kites - Are they good in strong winds???

Interested in this topic aswell. Ozone is pretty much the only available option for me over here and I've been riding the crap out of my old 13m Instinct 06 (since 2006) and like it a lot. For stronger winds I have an Flexifoil Atom 9m. I started out in 2004 on a C kite and miss the feel of them so ...

Re: open cell vs closed cell or (ozone vs flysurfer)

I own and fly both (aswell as inflatables). Apart from the obvious difference; - open cell - easier ground handling, - closed cell - possibility of water relaunch, less chance of collapses in low wind, I think flying characteristics is just down to design - not because of it being open or closed cel...

Re: Newbie looking for the right kite

For those winds you guys are talking about 10-25mph and 80 kg on skis, I'd say for Ozone kites; 10m access 9m Frenzy (10m if an older model Frenzy) 10m Manta Just find reviews/ads and figure out which character you'd like in the kite. If a 1st kite then Access would be a good choice. It's also the b...

Re: Newbie looking for the right kite

Just to be clear about this 'kite sitting still' issue (we're really getting off post here). - I'm not saying I have'nt had this happen. More than once I might add. What I'm saying is that in my experience it's not the kites fault. Everyone that has tried to back stall a foil kite to bring it to the...

Re: Newbie looking for the right kite

I'm with Brian on this one. I've been on Ozones since 2004. I own a bunch of kites from Ozone, Flexifoil and Flysurfer. Only tuning I've had to do on my kites is because of line stretch, and that's Flexifoil lines - not Ozone. 90% of the time I'm on a Manta I 10m (snow) and 06 Instinct 13m (water). ...

Re: Looking for tips on how to jump high...

#4 forgetting to redirect.

I see this all the time with beginners. The panic of being airborne - makes them freeze on the bar, pulled all the way in. (Gives them that elavator feeling but with the cost of dropping like a stone)

Re: snowkite trip in northern europe

Hi agin dutchy, Of course I'll show you around and come ride with you. We locals always welcome visitors. Most of the time we're only 2-4 riding together so anyone is always welcome to join. We've pretty much nailed down the best spots in the SV area (around Reykjavik) regarding snowkiting and kites...
