Re: First Snow Kite

I would go for open cell 10m kite. I've got quite an arsenal of all kinds of kites; C, hybrids, open/closed cell kites. I've got everything from really big to small, but what I ride 90% of the time on snow is the 10m Ozone Manta (13m Ozone Instinct on the water 90% of the time). I'm around 180 but t...

Re: Iceland late October?

No no Paul. Not insulted, didnt mean for it to sound like that. Just found out the other day myself that countries can't declare bankruptcy, think of it, they could just run away from their depts. That wouldnt be right would it. Just wanted to point out that its very much ok to come overhere, but ma...

Re: Iceland late October?

Countries can't go bankrupt. Me, my kids, ... everyone in Iceland for generations will have to pay for a gang of some spoiled newly rich kids party gone wrong. It's a big mess, but life goes on here. Our currency is pretty much frozen for import/export so foreign currency is gold overhere. Cause of ...

Re: World Financial Meltdown - Kite Companies To Fold

To BBQFish and others. You can try and buy Iceland if you want (beautiful empty kite beaches, apart from me and 3 others kiting there), but my kitegear will be excluded from the buy :nono: ... from my cold dead ... ooohh hand. It's a good thing I have stocked up on kite gear. Throw in wind, which we...

Re: One Armed Bar Wwanted, Reward!!!!

Boy do I know the 'you cant do that'. Fires me up to try stupid things and take up silly sports.

Guy, is the whole arm missing? I have my elbow and a 2 inch stump. So I use this loop thing a lot during activity.

Nice to see all you one armed guys out there in action.

Get him flying again...

- your wife catches you hanging up to dry kitestuff in the garage - but never helping out with laundry :nono:

Re: securing kite on field

Your safety is really not the quick kill slider, but the line between the outside lines, Kite should sit when this is attached to the screw. "Should sit" is the keyword here. This is the same line used to backward fly / relaunch a leading edge downed Frenzy/Manta/Access (whichever model). So should...

Re: securing kite on field

I'm surprised no one has mentioned an Ice axe. Overhere we have all kinds of different conditions. This is what I've been using for the last 4 years, and everyone else overhere I might add. I rearly use an ice screw although I have one. Can't be bothered when theres 2 inches of snow covering the ice...

Re: securing kite on field

Flag it on a single line after pulling the safety. Be careful, keep thumbs over the lines to be sure not to wrap any fingers into a loops. So you can ditch the whole lot (worst case scenario). Did that last winter after the wind picked up violently. Sat there with my snowboard edge digging in agains...
