Re: Inflatable Boards for Winging

I'm curious as to which manufacturer will be first though, to customise the drop-stitch strand lengths to provide serious contouring.soft side rails aren't so bad but it's much more efficient to have actual corners, edges at the stern of the boards to promote planing and release of water in wake. T...

Re: Open Fuse

Some more progress... moulds(still working on finish) and wing(thanks to prfctchaos for tip on bunnings jumbo vacuum bags, they save a lot of sealant!) I have vacuum film which is more flexible but bought some different sized clothing vacuum bags from Bunnings today and can't recommend them highly e...

Re: Wing profile info for backyard hydrofoil builders

I was thinking about printing the mould but I'm a bit worried this will be more difficult to laminate than 3D printed foil. I think I'll go with the easiest way for my first foil but I already have some ideas I want to try out later such as making a mould for expanding foam which will later be lami...

Re: Wing profile info for backyard hydrofoil builders

The new trend seems to be for the front wing to be more arched and the wing tips turned upwards. This apparently allows the wing to breach without loosing control. tks windmaker in which brand did you see what you are saying for me to analyze? best regards Eric F-One, Chubanga, Mike's lab etc BTW w...

Re: Video: 3 Key Wingfoiling Tips - Stance, Carving Gybes and the Foot Change

Fluidity: Thanks for posting your learning curve. I feel your pain. Here's my ( 72 kg) set up for 20 kts Blu Wave 6'6" 127 L, Naish XXL, 4m Gong P2 You'd have no issues with that weight and gear! I'd have my new wing built already but I'm working on compatibility with the gong fuse/wing socket comb...

Re: Open Fuse

So I finished cutting out the new XXL sized plywood wing a couple of weeks ago. Took 6 evenings on my CNC with 13mm roughing stage and 4mm ball mill finishing stage. And then lots of sanding. That's got me busy on the fuselage again after I skinned the underside because I need to manufacture the fus...

Re: Video: 3 Key Wingfoiling Tips - Stance, Carving Gybes and the Foot Change

I'm relatively new to Wingfoiling but the cross over with Kitefoiling gave me a leg up and I can't help but start thinking about ways to teach and coach the various techniques! It's been interesting trying to understand how the foil and wing work together and after a few sessions, I had some lightb...

Re: An object in a fluid

Ok, answering my own question: https://openfoam.org/ (the engine) https://sim-flow.com/ (the cockpit to drive it) Just ordered the first parts for a CNC table I'll build soon. Steppersonline for my stepper motors, drivers, interface board and water cooled spindlemotor. Robotdig for splined pulleys,...
