Re: Switch Element-6

A couple of guys had "Element"6s in 9m out today. One came in stoked, really liked it and said he could go hard up wind with it. Liked the jumping. Another guy seemed to be learning on his? I didn't see him jumping much or high. I'll do a swap of my new Nitro 9m with the first guy's new Element 9m n...

Isn't going unhooked also something you'd avoid if it's blowing 30 knots + ?

Re: Trace errors compared to Woo

@fluidity: there are a bunch of white papers & algorithms, already written to isolate true vertical acceleration and filter out the noise. You can play with them on your smartphone.. As I said the bottleneck is the accuracy of consumer accelerometers. This is why neither woo, trace, piq or Xensr tell...

Re: Trace errors compared to Woo

<<cut>> In kitesurfing, you would only need to measure 3-4 seconds each way, so with good accelerometer you can probably get it with cm precision... Lots of factors to correct for and space for errors to creep in. First, Woo or other device has to detect true 1G at sea level pointing down, at rest ...

Re: Trace errors compared to Woo

Lets see how long (and how much) it would take you to design a woo/trace clone on your own... <<cut>> Just picking random board for your project - PX4-FMU . Now you have the hardware so please create the software which accurately measures the kite jumps. I am starting my timer now and finish the ti...

Re: Trace errors compared to Woo

Given that they're based principally on accelerometers I doubt they will ever be particularly accurate. It's actually all quite technically feasible and practical these days. Physics and maths, well established fields that have been solved since before slide rules were a thing. Look at a chip like ...

Re: ION CS Wave Harness, waiting but not sure now.

I almost got one of these: http://www.realwatersports.com/ion-traveler-hook-harness-ax-black but none of our New Zealand distributors carry them and I was quoted almost as much in freight as the price for the actual product for delivery to New Zealand. So last night I got the angle grinder and sandi...

Re: Kitesurfing New Zealand north island round christmas

Wellington should be on that list for many reasons.. larger population than all on that list.. it's nickname is Windy Wellington! plus its a super cool city and has a lot to offer! I second that. Surf not as good as some other areas by I live close to Titahi Bay and Plimmerton which are great bays ...

Re: Switch Element 6 (brand new)

Piranha, with a review like that, I'd love to hear the other side, what all those on bigger kites thought about hefty you zipping around on a little kite that combined speed(not much draft) with power(lots of draft).
It doesn't seem very credible to me.

Re: Ocean Rodeo stick shift bar

It seems a lot of kite companies are sharing design and manufacturing sources. My last Switch kite had an invoice made out from some Hong Kong company. My switch footpads look like branded ones of these: https://yetikiteboarding.com/product/comfortable-footpad/ (Next time I make my own board I'll b...
