Re: Trapped air in double skin foils?

I understand the reasoning very well though, that a heavier kite, everything else being equal, can be flown in loops and getting a lot of speed thus more energy this way, so when you need to get it to "pick you up" on foil, you have the extra kinetic energy available for this now. Its just, I think ...

Re: Trapped air in double skin foils?

Of course, but that wasn't the issue, we know that.

It was whether the weight of the trapped air can be an advantage in terms of increasing total energy for the start, or not?

Some with a double skin 8 or 10 m2 must have been able to compare dry versus wet?

Trapped air in double skin foils?

Some argue it is an advantage, others dont. Maybe different scenarios whether an advantage or disadvantage? In my mind it is only a downside though, you lose performance in light wind. Kite accelerates slower so also a disadvantage in general IMO. Building up energy by looping it around for faster a...

Re: Forgot how to ride a twin tip

I ride pretty much strapped SB, and when I get onto a TT anymore, I always try to take my foot out of the foot strap to jibe. But if you like SB, why go back to TT. I really like kite loops and surfboards limit my options. Put straps on, and you get the best of everything, better waveriding and you...

Was about to post the same video but you were first Oz, apart from not being a foil, exactly what you wished for :thumb:

Re: Recommended 1 strut for big wing hydrofoiling?

Are you also seeking advice on these? As I can understand, it is for gusty lake foiling with little wind on the surface, so relaunch is essential, and also the ability to drift ashore without having to pack a foil kite down. And it should be very "C" like, with wide tips - why? For kitelooping? Woul...

Re: Wave SST - Upwind?!

I don't know the kite, but as said, in general low aspect wavekites go horrible upwind in big sizes. I don't know any using a 12 m2 for waves, except if 120 kg as it would correspond to an 8 or 9 m2 for the average weights, which are the typical light wind kite size on a surfboard for most. So I bel...

Re: Bladders in foils

I had the 9.4 and 5.5. That 9.4 was a beast. The bags were a great invention and using condoms as air intake valves was interesting and worked very well. Loved those kites in their time. I didnt know they had a 9.4 (9.5). Or was it only the "Pro" line that was 9 m2? And what was the difference? Hap...
