Having instructor saves a lot of time and probably an injury. Basicaly you save a whole season. Then you can advance quicker. I got about 5 hours with instructor untill water start and ride few meters. Then 3 hours for start each direction. And then practice alone If wind is light that takes extra t...

If I'm kitesurfing alone (and do that a lot) I always wear impact vest that helps to float and always have phone in dry bag. And never go out on offshore. There will be another day of good wind.
