Re: Self launch and self land option

I wouldn't want to walk on those rocks, let alone launch or fly a kite from them. Just one misstep....

Bin it.

If is old kite the valves are no good anyway...If is a new kite, sure, go for it.
Thought about that as the kite is 10+ years old, but the valves are all good and the kite held air for 2+ hours after I washed it. Figured I would give a try mending it for the experience.

Hand Sewing Ripstop Nylon

Got a long tear in the canopy of one of my old kites and don't want to have it repaired professionally (not worth it). I'm thinking of using ripstop tape on both sides and then hand sewing (Don't have a sewing machine). Any advice on how to hand sew would be appreciated. Anyone use a Speedy Stitcher...

Re: white shark

Body dragging=trolling for sharks. No dawn or twilight sessions for me. Years ago I got bit by a 3' blacktip. Aftrer 3 days of suffering and agony, the shark died...

Re: Footpad inserts

Years ago I tried some soft thick pads. I felt like there was a disconnect between me and the board. Maybe I needed some time to get used to them. But I stuck with my medium and hard pads so I can feel the board better and have more control.

Half-assed in that for heavy guys like me, you've got to lose half of your ass (weight) to be able to get up on the foil in light winds.

Re: Self launch and self land option

My 21m Speed 5 has a couple of attachments on the center of the kite that do not have bridle lines attached. I wonder if these were intended for 5th line use for landing? Anyone know?

Re: wing sup surf - without foil

I've watched a couple of videos of a girl winging on a SUP. You have to engage the rail if you don't have a daggerboard to go upwind. Slingshot makes a stick on daggerboard called SUPwinder https://www.slingshotsports.com/SUP-WINDer.

Re: How to remove salt(?) residue (binding) from twintip

Had the same on my 15 yr. old Crazyfly. Strictly cosmetic. Lightly wet sand with 400-600 grit and coat with clear coat. I used clear acrylic on mine a few years ago and it still looks good.

Re: 3.5m Wipika kite

Wip-a-kill... :o Had a 11.5/8.5 projected with a 2-line Airush reride bar that I learned on. If overpowered, edge as hard as you can and hope you don't get pulled off edge. Went from that to a 21.5m Cabrinha Blacktip. I was much younger then.
