Re: Where Should I Move To Retire & Kite?

Mr. Doe: I'm in a not un-similar position. I think finding somewhere your wife will be happy over the long term is likely to be very challenging. Obviously, whatever you choose has to meet her needs, or it won't work out. I'm more inclined to think a better idea to have a place somewhere in the US -...

Re: Flysurfer Peak4 in 5 m2, truly stoked

To Regis, @78 kg and my KOOL1200 wing, I use the 3 and 5 at their sweetspots where not flapping nor having to work, in wind around: 5 m2: 14 to 17 knots 3 m2: 20 to 23 knots Using my WaveXL (790 cm2) windranges are not that much different, because of more apparent wind power as one rides faster, al...

Re: Flysurfer Peak4 in 5 m2, truly stoked

What i was trying to say from beginning /even by PM to Peter F./ is that you are in impression that you have good functional kite in your smaller LEI. That small LEI can be heavy because you are using it stronger wind where everything will fly etc etc. But not you have not. You have almost dysfunct...

Re: Flysurfer Peak4 in 5 m2, truly stoked

So my take-away from the (lengthy) Peak4 discussions: The Peak4 has significant functional advantages: it is compact & light making it is easy to transport. It is relatively powerful for its size. It is relatively inexpensive. It can be launched & landed in situations that would be very difficult/im...

Re: Do Peak4 kites work with waveboards?

Never evaluate in general based on local conditions, agree. But by far, most wave spots around the world are quite close to the shore, and not offshore winds. And those not or risky, will know. 8) Peter I'm thinking of Cabarete where the reef (downwind of KB) is a decent distance offshore - not imp...

Re: Do Peak4 kites work with waveboards?

So are you saying the Peter Frank universe has no longer has any place in it for tube kites? :o It has to be said, while keeping a single skin foil out of the water while kite foiling seems pretty realistic, it seems like it would be a bit more problematic when wave riding more aggressively with a ...

relaunch is overrated :)
For foiling I would agree. I'm not sure I've ever dropped my kite while foiling ... except when the wind was so light that I couldn't relaunch the LEI anyway (& one time I fell &managed to get the bar under the board & the lines either side of the mast - not pretty).

Re: Flysurfer Peak4 in 5 m2, truly stoked

What an incredible piece of kit. Have to say, I am 100% happy with the character of this kite. Super familiar yet it brings so much that is new to the table. First day on it: 10-12 knots climbing to 14 gusting 18. Great test day. Flew perfectly on low V trimerless bar with rear lines a couple cm sh...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

How easy is it to hot launch a Peak4 in minimal or no wind? I have a couple of spots very close to where I live where the launch is frequently in a wind shadow created by a protruding clump of trees upwind. Side-launching an LEI can be very iffy or impossible, with very little wind at ground level, ...
