Re: Are fast foil wings dead outside of racing?

I like the idea of riding both styles. There are days when I feel like going on long trips upwind followed by a nice down wind run. Other days I want to just do short runs and practice tacks and 360's etc. I currently ride a Slingshot Hoverglide which I enjoy, but would one day like to have a faster...

Re: statement from Lou

There is zero doubt that Lou could foil circles around us all. If he doesn’t like it that’s his prerogative. If I lived in Maui I sure as hell wouldn’t be into it like I am. Still, strangely, I foil to be just a little more like Lou. I rig a simpler, smaller and generally more beat up kite than any...

Re: Hydrofoil, Worth it for me?

Thanks again everyone for your input. So now I am pricing out which foil to get. What would be the best option for a first foil. I'm 100kg and only really looking at learning on it but then enjoying it for years to come in 8-max20 kts. Slingshot foil complete with the 76 infinity wing for $790USD T...

Re: starting on duck tack to toeside

Ok, can we just call it "tack to toeside"? I tried this and I find I am unable to even attempt it in one move/effort. Any suggestions on how to break it down and practice different parts of it? I have no trouble making hard carves back and forth while just riding. But how to isolate and practice br...

Re: Hydrofoil, Worth it for me?

what everyone else said and foiling will make you a better more confident kiter in all diciplines. Any tricks or transitions you learn on a foil will seem so much easier for you on TT or surfboard not to mention precision kite control since you will find the true limits of your kites. Ha ha That is...

Re: Slingshot NF2 Foil - Beginner

I learned on the NF2 and Dwarfcraft. The NF2 is a great foil to both learn and progress on. I still really like mine 2 years on.

Re: wind range 9m hyperlink

I'm 80kg on a Slingshot Hoverglide. I use a 9m Hyperlink from 10 to 16kts and then use a 6m Ozone Reo from 15 to about 23kts. I have an old 2012 Catalyst 4m but this doesn't get much use. I really love the Reo for foiling. Fast, good drift and ample depower.

Re: 75 cms mast

Thanks, however as a beginner 'carving' and to 'go fast' won't be priorities.Won't I get the magic carpet feeling once on the foil irrespective of height? A 75cm mast will be absolutely fine for you. I learned on a 60cm mast then used a slightly longer 78cm mast for about a year due to water depth i...

Can we just call it turning around?
