Re: wind range 9m hyperlink

I'm 80kg on a Slingshot Hoverglide. I use a 9m Hyperlink from 10 to 16kts and then use a 6m Ozone Reo from 15 to about 23kts. I have an old 2012 Catalyst 4m but this doesn't get much use. I really love the Reo for foiling. Fast, good drift and ample depower.

Re: 75 cms mast

Thanks, however as a beginner 'carving' and to 'go fast' won't be priorities.Won't I get the magic carpet feeling once on the foil irrespective of height? A 75cm mast will be absolutely fine for you. I learned on a 60cm mast then used a slightly longer 78cm mast for about a year due to water depth i...

Can we just call it turning around?

Haha - yes, Upwind turnaround and downwind turnaround. :D

Re: starting on duck tack to toeside

Well you may not think it's sailing but the World Sailing Council may just disagree with your definition of what sailing is: "KITEBOARDING IS TO BECOME A FULL OLYMPIC SAILING EVENT AFTER WORLD SAILING’S (WS) COUNCIL APPROVED A SUBMISSION THAT WILL SEE ATHLETES TAKE THE STAGE AT THE PARIS 2024 GAMES"...

Re: starting on duck tack to toeside

This is correct. Of course it's a tack or a gybe - regardless of whether you change feet or not. If you take the nose of the board through the eye of the wind and travel back in the opposite direction, you have tacked. Same for the gybe. To call it a carve if you don't swap feet is incorrect. I thi...

Re: starting on duck tack to toeside

Tacking and gybing are established sailing terms. For reference: "Tacking is the maneuver of turning between starboard tack and port tack by bringing the bow (the forward part of the boat) through the wind." I does not matter what the sailor does with his feet or body. There are several ways to tac...

Re: Slingshot dwarfcraft 4'6 or Alien air for beginner?

I would go with the DC4'6. I learned on it and 2 years later still like it. You'll outgrow the AA very quickly I think. The DC is a great strapless board as well if you eventually go down that track. The AA is harder to waterstart strapless as it is wider with more volume.

Re: Slingshot fkite choice: Space skate 65 vs Infinity 76

I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but here is a review of the Infinity 76 and the Moses 633 I wrote several months ago on an Australian Hydrofoil forum: "Given the interest in, and growing popularity of, larger surf wings for kite foiling over the last 12 months or so, I've been reall...

Re: starting on duck tack to toeside

I've been learning this move for the last 5 or 6 weeks. I initially started with the intention of learning 360s but the tack was a happy bonus. I actually found the Tucker video really helpful. Good repetition of the move and shots of what the kite is doing during the transition. I found actually wa...

Re: Large compact wings for surfimg on a hydrofoil

Oversized doesn’t gain you anything. It just makes you slow. [/quote] I have to disagree with this. I demo'ed a Slingshot Infinity 76 surf foil and found it to be wonderful to kite with. It has a stated wind range of 8 - 22kts. On the day I tried it I had winds of 12 - 15kt and my 6m kite was plenty...
