Re: Aluula ? New Revolutionary Material from Ocean Rodeo

Cuben fiber 2.0 I don't get this type of dismissal. Isn't a 2.0 version that overcomes the issues found with any initial promising concept totally desirable? If you can remember the Hellfish, I'm pretty sure Ocean Rodeo does too. The fact Cuben was such a bust gives me greater confidence this mater...

Re: Light wind TT board length/width

We will just have to disagree about skim boards. I had an extra large Victoria (added a central fin), and that thing was magic for me on light wind. Did you ever do back-to-back testing with your light wind TT VS the skimboard? That was the eye-opener for me at many different locations. Skimboards ...

Re: Foil Kite vs LEI kite for medium wind hydrofoil

The fast turning which you mention in that video at 1.10 isn't a "regular" turn, it's a stalled turn. So one side of the kite is stalled and flying backwards. This isn't the way the kite turns normally unless it's forced to do it... and I don't really see a benefit. Sure foil kites can fly arc turn...

Yes !! van down by the Columbia River Nooooooo! I have those same junk winds in the midwest spring and fall. I head a little further west in the summer. So it is really a van down by the ocean. Re: Light wind TT board length/width

I see several choices: Go for a door that is at least 50cm wide and at least 150cm long (preferrably zero rocker) or a large skim board. I use a 150x50 CrazyFly Cruiser and/or skim board (also have some 22 inch wide surf boards that work a treat). If the location is deep water, get a foil (the ulti...

Re: Light wind TT board length/width

Foils have limitations, including: 1. Prerequisite of good kite skills 2. Expense of initial investment 3. Strapless = mowing lawn or stuck to surface level tricks 4. Strapped = more fun but injuries likely/inevitable 5. Needs water more depth 6. Needs mostly weed/debris free water LW TTs have the a...

and you can order any color as long it's black- why? please give us a choice of different colors From the other thread.... I learned an important lesson today on why black is the best LE color. Frickin charcoal all over the beach from beach fires makes other colors ugly on just one landing. I defin...
