Re: Best bankrupt?

Hard to blame individual employee's for the not being able resist the immovable force of a corporation that takes on a life of its own beyond even it's CEO or board of directors. But I mirror TomW's sentiment, on those that presided over the inner workings of Best over the last few years, who do not...

Re: Next twin tip board ?

If you have upwind conquered, then maybe you are looking for something more slashy and fun in swell or in ocean surf. If you are riding a flat 138x43cm board, then the next size smaller could be a 142x43 highly rockered board. This "next size smaller" board would lack lots of upwind capability of a ...

Re: Surfboard Size

I'll "tool up" for this one! It is good that you are riding different boards and trying to decide which way to go. I have to add that you do not need to look so hard. Kites are amazing apparatus for riding a multitude of things on the water. You will be able to ride just about anything under your fe...

Re: Towing stuff?

No advice, just thoughts as I am not experienced with this scenario.

SUP + Kite = SUK Then may be if you divide by "K" for kid, the "K's" cancel out sot you get SU for Somewhat Usable, or Somewhat Understandable.

Still, my kid would be in body armor.

Re: Ankle leash on a surfboard?

tension in the "Eel" leash could be easily eliminated with a leader of fixed line so that none of the tensioned line comes out of the spool.

Re: Ankle leash on a surfboard?

Gunnar, You have made a much more compelling case with that last post! At least for a specific local setting with prone surfers, swimmers, windsurfers (do they use a leash?), and other water users IF it is also a local mentality driving it. I must admit, I would not kite there given a choice. If you...

Re: Biggest kite for a surfboard?

I top out at 13.5m on water and have smoked guys on 17m kites with it. I even zipped past a hydrofoiler (intermediate skill) while I was on my surfboard with it. But who cares. Your local dictates your kite size (along with skill and preference). One spot on the coast never sees me have any success ...

Re: Stupid beginner question -waves in your face?

Less dragging, more ridding. You are getting good experience dragging through the waves. This is not something you should skip, but later you will use it only when recovering the board, or surviving the break on a broken line kitemare. I would suggest getting some prone surfing experience if you do...

Re: Ankle leash on a surfboard?

Of course riders with leashes are in the majority here. Most of the riders are of a quite high level here and we have proper waves where not wearing a leash is a major safety issue for yourself and others. I already made my arguments, and they are backed up by the best surfers and kitewave riders i...

Re: Who Has Right of Way?

The person that is least maneuverable in a wave situation is the person on the wave. Waves are variable, some are too big to head back out over, some great waves are small but present no obstacle to give up. Skill and equipment are somewhat the same with regards to variability. I can get back out f...
