Re: 3 or 5 strut for bigger riders

Why do anyone make kites with 5 struts? Duotone Rebel is a cracking for boosting and hang time. North Dyno was as well. Cabrinha Switchblade was good. I was struggling to get over 5m and a friend recommended a Rebel. First day I took it out I hit 6m. I then watched a tutorial on jumping and started...

Re: 3 or 5 strut for bigger riders

Somewhat correct I would say. If you are really good I believe that to be true, but for the average rider I'm not sure how much they would adjust to the type of kite. And I'm not sure if I completely buy this "technique" argument either. I think that works both ways. I learned a lot about my Enduros...

Re: Good deal on black Friday/ cyber Monday?

Any reason not to wait?

I guess there is a small risk that they get sold out.

A bigger discussion, but a bit silly how everyone are waiting/postponing their purchases to Black Friday. Doesn't really make any sense for overall costs - but what to do. I'm waiting for Friday myself.

In my opinion it would be absurd to go to Cape Town and Langebaan for 6-8 weeks without a car. There will be windless days perfect for car trips all over the place.
Depends on how far you go I guess - and how often. Über takes you a long way in CT.

That said - SA is definitely better with a car.

Re: recomendations place on the beach

I have no idea how the situation is in the Philippines, but Bulabog might be as close as you get. Not many places are great in February/March. Not sure how the sewage situation is now on Boracay, but I guess it should be better than before considering the reduced travelling. Langebaan might still go...

Re: 3 or 5 strut for bigger riders

How can you say it is mostly marketing? Would have been fun to see a test between a 5 and 3 strut kite with the same overall design. How it bends when you load it up etc. and how it would react differently depending on the weight of the rider. I'm not going to say that there isn't a 3 strut kite out...

Re: 3 or 5 strut for bigger riders

Obviously world class kiters will be able to jump whatever, but there is a huge difference jumping with 75kg and 105kg.

But if it is the struts or the general shape I'm not going to have a strong opinion on. I'm definitely going 5 next time around.

Re: 3 or 5 strut for bigger riders

Yes. Kind of similar weight - and I would say the answer is yes.

If it is the struts or the shape I couldn't say, but I got the same experience with my Zephyr. And whenever I have tried 5 struts I definitely go higher and longer hang time.

Re: Cape Town is open again

Advertising? Surely sharing information to fellow kiters should be within acceptable types of post on here?

Whatever happens in terms of restrictions I highly doubt CT will be filled up with tourists this January. Just the no. of flights should be very limited compared to earlier.
