Re: Benefits of small foil kites for freeride hydrofoil?

Not enough to talk about foil kites as a whole anymore. Single skin and double skin foils are very different animals. The Peak4 thread is a long read, but here are a few reasons I like small single skin foils for hydrofoiling: Exceptionally light weight yields better performance in the low end Excep...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

Dude! He makes a pretty good point. I have had the kite roll through its lines before and it flies with zero issues but I still correct that shit before the next outing. You kinda just said you gave up on untangling and just popped it up. It flew fine, you know, for a kite your unfamiliar with then ...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

From your descriptions I would hazard a guess that some portion of the bridle looped over the kite and the kite went all the way through so the bridle has now got a twist. Sometimes the mixer can also get "inside out"ish, if the flying lines are detached but these are generally easy to reverse. I wo...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

DONT UNTIE ANYTHING and go from there. This is your bridle right of passage. Once you pass, the Oracle will appear and you will be officially summoned into the Peak4 brotherhood. Then it will fall to you to pass on every tid bit of advice to future inductees as they too deal with their first tangle....

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

I’ll say pretty much the same thing! Initial bridle fear and issues fade fast. Launch and land skills develop quick too. I did goop my entire bridle with weeds early on, so there is definitely a learning curve! I generally drop the kite near the window edge. Once on the ground it loses shape and you...

Re: Relaunch Trim

I mostly ride without a trim strap, but often pull the front lines in order to get the kite moving forward. Relaunch is fairly kite specific and some do it better than others. Some take more wind than others. Generally with almost any LEI, pulling one rear line and the opposite front line is the eas...

Re: Pocketboard question

A had an alloy foil (4.3 kg) on a wood skim (4.5 kg) that sat super low in the water. The entire deck pad was doubled for buoyancy and bright neon green, In the "wrong" light, it sat flat on the water. With your head at water level, you could easily lose it. It would also occasionally crash just rig...

Re: Best kite for hydrofoil?

Ah... And don't get me started on the unholy mess that is the 5th line . Whoever invented it, and gave it cables of same color as internal bridles, has much, much to answer for it. Yes, it will allow lowering the kite "easily" and safely. But it adds significant time to install and remove (after at...

Re: Covid vaccine

Calling out disinformation regarding mRNA is not pretending anything. Health care has always and will always be about risk reward ratios. There is no IQ test to become a politician. Is there importance to public health messaging? Absolutely. Because the general public are not specialists in virology...
