I have 25m lines on my 5m (21m on my 4m). Initially I thought the length was unnecessary because the peak doesn't seem to build more power with apparent wind. But it allows longer power sweeps, and more room for error in lulls. It still turns well with longer lines.

The drifter sits back in the wind window a lot compared to other LEIs. I liked it for foiling because it drifts and steers well compared to other LEIs, and upwind is fast on a hf anyway. The soul goes upwind significantly better, but I don't enjoy it for downwind riding, way too much care required. ...

I would put this order in term of L/D ratio (i.e. upwind performance):
Peak->LEI->Wave-> Hyperlink->Chrono

Have you flown the Peak4 yet?
My 4m Peak4 doesn't seem any worse than my drifter 5.5 at going upwind. Not that I use my drifter any more, because the peak is so much better behaved.

If your foil floats, then a large volume board is easy to set on its side and waterstart.

Purchased a couple of peaks, in 4m and 5m, specifically to use with hydrofoil at a gusty wind-shadowed launch site. I've used them about 10 times now, and prefer them over my drifters. Light carbon foil gear is nice to use and easy to carry. Combined with a 600g Flysurfer Peak 4, it's minimalist.
