Re: Foils that don’t sink. How much of a problem is it

I ride in swell, underpowered with small wave kites, and a foil setup that floats on its side, usually in on shore wind. It sits in the water ready for a water start, and it doesn't float in to shore with the waves. It's a minor effort to body drag back to it occasionally, I much prefer this compare...

Re: Next foil for light weight old guy

I like my J Shapes Cruiser, which is about 900cm^2. It starts flying at low speed, great for carving and playing around, stable, but still goes fast enough to be exciting in swell. It's a nice combo with the J Shaped 1m pocket board, which is 2kg, makes it very nimble and quick to turn. The whole se...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

I'll order one and give it a try, it sounds like a fun kite for hf.

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

I have a Soul 10m which is good at generating speed on light days, but I like a drifty and less powered looping wave kite when it's windy. I like carving around on swell without being pulled the whole time. Does the fluttering make it tiresome, is it as easy/fun for freeride as a cloud? It sounds li...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

I'm keen to hear more impressions of the peak with a hydrofoil in medium to strong wind. How stable is it in dirty, shifting, gusty wind? Our local harbour has a wind shadow from nearby hills, with a sketchy launch area where you step down a 5m tall rocky seawall to get into the water. The wind can ...

Re: Does weight matter?

I recently moved from a 155cm board that weighed 3+kg to a J Shapes 1m pocket board which weighs 2kg. The difference in maneuverability was huge, it felt like I was using a completely different wing. I am still using the same carbon mast and cruiser wing. The much shorter board length and lower weig...

Re: Kite for waveriding

I have a 2016 Airush Wave 8m and a Cabrinha Drifter 8m, and I use them in waves on a hydrofoil. The Airush is a heavy kite that stalls easily, and I avoid using it, I don't like it at all. The Drifter is much easier to keep in the air, drifts far better, loops without any surprising power surge, tak...

Re: Ram airs crash in 2018

Pumpy, you should put your enthusiasm and propaganda into something useful for humanity. If you campaigned against the automobile, you'd have the potential to save some serious lives. In the USA alone, 100 people die every day in car accidents. What a load of drivel about ram airs. Kiting is potenti...

Re: flysurfer soul: I need to know 3 things.

You should borrow one for a demo.
I have a 10m soul on 22m lines.
It's stable in the gusts, holds it's shape well.
I loop it through gybes, turns fast enough, but it does loop with a lot of power if it's windy.
It boosts like crazy, not something I'm into with the hf at the moment.

Re: Ram airs crash in 2018

Isn't it good we have diversity. Imagine a situation where companies just put different colours on the same old pumpy kites each year. We might as well have cutting edge tech as well. Normal people go walking along the beach when the wind is light, and hydrofoils with foil kites will be flying above...
