Re: Flysurfer Peak4 in 5 m2, truly stoked

Wow wow wow .... please censure this dangerous topic otherwise i may loose some euros on a future peak4 ... Haven't you tried one yet, despite being in the original peak4 thread for more than a year now? Guys Is 5m good enough for light winds around 8 knots for my 63kgs/140 lbs? Or should i ...

Re: Ozone Zephyr V5/6 17m or Ozone Hypelink v2 11/13m ?

If you want to ride on light days, why don't you get a foil board instead of a huge kite?

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

The getting out through tough shore break is one thing I hope to improve with a peak. Sometimes you you can see the wind is decent out past the dumping break, but its marginal in shore and getting battered by swell/sweep on the way out can push you back toward the kite enough to slack line. I have ...

Re: Flysurfer Peak4 in 5 m2, truly stoked

I held off for 6 months on buying an 8m, because people proposed it wouldn't be any good in light wind. I should have bought it earlier. I use it heaps, and I'm nicely powered from around 9 knots. It's a great size for days when the wind is below 13 knots, and it floats like magic in the lulls. If ...

Re: Flysurfer Peak4 in 5 m2, truly stoked

Maybe I will reevaluate my opinion about 8 - but i have 9m Kitech FRS. Biggest peak advantage is for sure drift and in lower wind you just cannot go faster than wind - no matter how good Peaks are. I will do Peak4 8 vs FRS 9 test one more time. 5,4,3, are nobrainer sizes. Yeah, I totally agree the ...

Re: Flysurfer Peak4 in 5 m2, truly stoked

Nice review Peter. It seems that for you 10 knots was sufficient to use the 5m. The question remains: is it worth it to have a 8m, given that some people seem to think that the performance of the Peak4 is less impressive (relatively) in the larger sizes? The 5m is a good size to start with. I held ...

Re: Peak / Genesis / wing and sup - what to do?

I would not plan on learning to foil with a kite that doesn't relaunch reliably. When I was learning to foil, the weirdest things happened that I couldn't have anticipated- foil wrapped in lines, me wrapped in lines, etc. I don't really ever drop a kite in the water with a surfboard, but I dropped ...

Re: Foil kites on wet beaches

Ram airs companies had epiphany Ramming air in double skin kites is not that good We are learning our lesson from LEI companies Single skin is the way to go We can sell more kites Too bad they still have dozens of spaghetti bridles Oh well that still makes LEI kites superior for sure In all kinds o...

Re: Foil kites on wet beaches

Pumpy full of wind, ram airs are so last year. Single skin foil kites are where it's at. Light, durable, safer to launch, and super drifty.

Single skins are really easy to dry out.

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

Nah, same upwind performance as a typical wave LEI kite (My findings with foil and surfboard / skimboard, compared to Cabrinha drifters). it just takes a number of sessions to really get that point of best upwind / sheating on the peak. Agreed. Delicate bar pressure definitely helps to get power at...
