Re: Ram airs crash in 2019

I carried a burst inflatable back to shore for someone today. It had crashed, and the rider was stranded. Big heavy thing it was. Inflatables continue to fall out of the sky and crash in 2019.

Re: Reasonably Minimalistic Bar For Foiling

I'm using cabrinha bars with the chicken loop and depower removed, replaced by a BRM style setup. Great for foiling. Minimal.

Re: How much wind can a single strut handle

I have a 4m ozone uno. At 100 kg in 40 knots you will easily collapse a single strut kite. The front tube of Ozone uno is easy to collapse under high load. It may be the thin LE, bridle design or flat curve? To be fair it’s marketed as a trainer kite. Whatever the cause the result does not generali...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

I'm using the 8m on days when regular weight closed cells can barely hot launch, from around 7-8 knots if the tide is helping me. It's comfortable up to about 13-15 knots. 75kg. The light wind sessions with the 8m require more careful down loop gybes, otherwise you can collapse the kite. There's muc...

Re: Getting past ocean breakers

Ah. Very helpful so far. Glad to know I am not the only one to attempt this. Keeping the board pinned to chest with mast pointed into wind sounds much better than wing straight up. I almost sliced off my thumb last year at this time. Thanks! I find when I'm holding the board under my arm, body drag...

Anyone compared a high y bar (the official flysurfer bar is high y I believe) with a v bar? Make any difference?
Doesn't seem to make any noticeable difference, works great with a v bar. The official bar is a high y. They're not a big wide kite, so there isn't much angle change from v to y.

Here some test about light wind with the SOUL, when I had the pleasure to visit Toronto:

That hf wing looks huuuge, what's the surface area?

Re: New grip on Cabrinha bar

Hideous bar that one, maybe the worst Cabrinha ever made... Personally I'd retire it but you could just buy some bicycle grip on the cheap. Make sure you check the safety line in the PU tube for wear while you're at it and the connection point inside the red mushroom release. As for board / bar rub...

Re: Anyone tried foiling with a wing?

Can you ride upwind on these wings, or are they just for downwind swell? I was out kiting yesterday, watching a good kite foiler use a wing on a foilSUP, in 20+ knots of wind. He was mowing the lawn, and very slowly. There was ample swell, I was expecting him to ride it downwind like I was, but I th...

Re: now foil kiters are saying their kites drift better

The drifter was my favorite inflatable kite for hf in swell precisely because it drifts. Hydrofoils make effortless speed in swell, and you catch up the kite a lot. The peak wipes the floor, and completely outdrifts the drifter. It's not even close. You can ride really fast downwind and the kite sta...
