Slingshot Oneline usable with 4 line kites?

Can a Slingshot Oneline be used with a four line kite?

I'm thinking of getting the oneline, but one of my old kites does not have a 5th line attachment.

Is it possible to remove the fifth line from the bar and use a traditional kite leash?

Maybe you're waiting too long before reacting to a gust. Try edging sooner, before getting overpowered. Another thing to try is lean back and let your weight balance the pull of the kite, instead of fighting it.

Here's the official response from Slingshot for 4-line kites. (They also said NOT to tie the leashed line to the board, as someone previously mentioned.) "Hand over hand to the bar pulling the line towards you while not letting the line wrap around you. As you hand over hand the line the bar will ev...

I have two SS one-pump kites. Replacing the leading edge bladder is definitely more fool-proof, can't twist it when you line up the nipples. Speaking of nipples, these kites are like a cat, they have ten nipples! This is a liability for two reasons: more points of failure, and the rubber hoses conne...

Let's say you're separated from the board. You reel in the leash line, which is under moderate tension, and risk entangling yourself. If you accidentally let go of the line, it pulls through the ring on the bar. The kite may then power up very quickly while you're holding a bunch of line in your hand.

Slingshot Self-Rescue

I took lessons a couple of months ago on Cabrihna gear. For the self-rescue, we deployed the safety mechanism (pushing the red ring forward) depowering the kite. We then wound up the lines on the bar. I bought Slingshot gear and use a wrist leash connected to one of the rear lines. If you deploy the...
