Re: Advice to choose wave kite... wainman x Park

Is there any specific reason why you narrowed down your choice to those two kites? I have only flown a Naish Park once, and not in waves, so I don't want to comment on that one. What I can say about Wainmans, however, is this: First off, the Wainman Rabbits are pretty good all-round kites, meaning t...

Re: Choosing waves when its massive.

What Tone said. Ideally you want to ride the biggest wave of the set, or one of the waves following the biggest one - and as Tone said, that's usually wave number 3 or 4. That's kind of the general rule in surfing, and it's even more important when kitesurfing waves because if you drop your kite, yo...

Re: Good board for lightwind but still fits in a golf bag...

A split board is one option, as pmaggie pointed out. Another alternative is to get a board with a flat outline (i.e., little rocker), as these tend to get going in lighter wind than board with more rocker. Stiffness and a rectangular outline also helps. Finally, maximize the width, as the increased ...

Re: Kitesurf in Kuantan, Malaysia

I can't recommend one school over another; but my one recommendation would be that you make sure that they guarantee you a minimum of X hours of instruction for your course fee, even if that means that your course has to be spread out over several weeks. The reason why I say that is that the winds a...

Re: Backhand Kitesurfing Tips/Technique

Also I have been wondering about the approach y'all use when chasing down a wave. Generally when I'm tacking out ill eye down a set from the outside then turn and try to position myself while the wave is hitting the sand and beginning to break. As it starts to break I set my bottom turn and ride th...

Re: Vintage kites that are still relevant

I don't know if you would call it a "vintage" kite, but my go-to kite for stormy conditions is still my trusted 2009 Naish Cult 4.5m Sport Edition. I've tried a lot of kites but that thing is a wonder of stability and forgiveness in strong and gusty conditions. I get a lot of comments about the sigm...

Re: Will 4 line north bar work on a Best kite

There are three factors that determine if you can safely and easily use a 4-line bar from manufacturer A on your kite from company B. In descending order of importance, they are: 1. Are the kites from both company A and company B designed to flag to one front line, or to two front lines? 2. Do the b...

Re: Any tips on slipping clamcleat?

besides the water salinity is the potent factor for corrosion too. may be Peter Frank has less salt in the water he is riding? Maybe, but I bet the most important factor is how often you actually use your clamcleat. Some people adjust their trim all the time while riding, while others almost never ...

Re: Glue for repairing bladders and valves

I know what you mean! Before you close the tube grease the threads and cap it. I have a 6 month old tube I've used for a dozen repairs still good. Before I started greasing the threads the tube would harden up in two weeks. Oh and remember to get all the old grease off the tube tip before you use i...

Re: Glue for repairing bladders and valves

http://www.kitesports.co.za/profiles/bl ... csGShyHfHF Thanks to Jantrit they unfortunately didnt test the two best glues, aquaseal & 3m5200 Aquaseal and 3M 5200 are indeed great for gluing bladders and valves; but the problem with both is that once you've opened the tube, what is left goes hard wi...
