Re: Normal surfboard for kitesurfing

I currently use the Hynson Black Night fish (which I also surf with) for low wind which is made out of Thermal Epoxy Compression and I have not have had any problem with it, I even jump it. I have also used polyurethane surf boards but I don't jump with those.

Re: Surf weight

I have a 5 kg 6' Caution Trespass for the surf, great on the surf and smooth on the chops. If it is 14 mph wind and up that is what I use, if it less then 14 mph then I use my 6' Firewire Potatonator surfboard (3.5 kg), which I also use for surfing when there is no wind. I have tried it in winds mor...

Re: Strutless kite trend

I would have less worry taking a cloud in marginal conditions, than any kite that is less stable or heavier. Last weekend I rode my cloud 17 with friends who had a turbine and a zephyr. The cloud was more stable at the lowest wind (7-8 knots) than either of the others. As to waves, the cloud could ...

Re: Strutless kite in development on Maui

Anyone tried their kite going down the line? I am really curious to try it in more wind and waves. Today we had huge surf, but not enough wind for the 8.. Well I finally got to try the 13 Cloud on a solid 15 mph winds gusting up to 18, the waves were only 2-3 ft. and I was a 6' ft surfboard but I h...

Yes, I have with the 17M Cloud, it drifted perfectly and it was blowing 12 mph, the waves were 2-3 ft. I was on a 6 ft surfboard and I weigh 185...

Re: Strutless kite in development on Maui

I have self launch the 17M several times with no problem so I would think it would be easier with an anchor.

Re: Strutless kite in development on Maui

For those that have rode the 13M Cloud, what would you say is a sustainable high end not what you can take it up to but how many knots would it be where you can stay riding comfortably and not get pulled like a mad truck or being pulled out of a wave? Please also give your weight, thanks.

Re: Whose a weirdo and prefer upwind wave riding?

I agree with Windsucks, who cares what other think. I also think it depends on the wave, is it breaking left or right and the direction of the wind. I certainly have had fun going upwind and wave riding and I have seen others do it.

Re: Strutless kite in development on Maui

In term of the high end, it handle gust up to 20 on the outside, I didn't get pulled or anything like that but I definitely felt overpower at that point, keep in mind I weight about 182 and I was on a floaty board. In terms of building power, on the low wind all I had to do was sign a couple of time...

Re: Strutless kite in development on Maui

Yes it goes upwind well, even a couple of times when the wind dropped everyone else was walking upwind while I was still riding and going upwind, keep in mind, I was using a floaty 6' surfboard and some of the other riders were on 12 and 14.
