I have just bought a hammer after an airline tried to charge me $200 to take my surfboard to Cape Town. Bought the hammer there cheaper by far than UK about 290 vs 460 UKP - The board is amazing in the waves. First day I tried it was on Laangebaan lagoon close to the shop I bought it from - flat wat...

I was in the same position as you - was using 5' board but wanted something to surf on as well. Bought a quad fin board from Dereck http://www.dcboardz.com - actually 6 foot with snubbed nose so only 5'8 long. Board is wider more forgiving and quicker than regular board - easier to catch board. That...

From windsurfing days the trick was get up speed heading downwind then head up directly into wave standing more upright pull in sail and lean back to pop over waves. Sailing normally leaning out means you would get ripped off by the wave to see your board and sail jump without you. The same works ki...

Halo Airush - tweak

I changed the shockcord on the Halo bar to an 8mm line - although 6mm would do as well. This keeps much better backline pressure - actually makes the kite nicer powered up. You then set just the right amount of depower using the strap and you can almost kite using no bar pressure. If you need to dep...

pics of that new quad are on my blogspot - it has just arrived so hasn't even got wet yet. Still looks like it will do the trick. Aslo swopped fins (fcs) on my 5' surfboard - hopefully this will help the tracking.

The 138 hammer it will be - taking my new quad to Cape Town will cost me $200 - but I can ship my kites in a big bag - buy the hammer there and then put it into cardboard and claim it is an african carving for the trip back. (or post it) :P

I went from a cr*ppy made SolaWinter suit (the worst suits with the worst customer care policy) which ended up after just one year with more glue than rubber to a Oneill Psycho II 3/2 (yes 3/2 as I have a pyro drysuit) and now in Scotland in november it is warmer than my Sola ever was. A great suit ...

I have a 121 '05 board. It is fantastic going normal and great for jumps but in reverse it is twitchy you have to edge hard and put weight on back foot (which is nose side) to keep tail clear.

That said however its a piece of p*ss toeside and so flicky - I use this as small board.
