Re: "It" finally happened. Wings and alula.

What's the difference between alula and cuben fiber(dyneema)? The alula looked a lot like Mylar to me.

Re: Kitesurfing Key West: Mangrove tunnels, Board Grinding, Choking on a Blakes Bar

I hope this doesn't become a common thing of riding through the mangroves, we have enough battles with fwc to not shut down Marvin key, woman key, and several other locations to kite boarding due to bird nesting. Great looking vid but hopefully others will not be doing the same.

Re: Will Wingfoiling lead people into Kitesurfing?

I think winging will get people into kite boarding. Most people that don't kite are scared of the wind, water, kite falling down, ECT... The wing lets people try a wind sport and get used to the power of the wind along with getting into the ocean and over their fears of floating at Sea. I think wing...

Re: Wingtip breaching on wave turns

Depends on the foil. Some foils can ride with a wing tip out of the water while others will have cavitation and drop. So it might not be you. Axis and Moses are two brands that I've seen be able to breach and keep going. Usually high aspect foils.

Re: Short/Fat or Long/Thin?!

Shorter, wider, thicker is best. The longer the board is, the more negative force against the lift of the foil and swing weight. Width and thickness has very little to no effect on the swing weight and pump but with less board out in front will let you pop up quickly in less wind.

Re: advise on new setup - Armstrong vs Axis

I'm mostly in open ocean conditions with side, onshore and off shore winds chasing waves and swell. I attempt freestyle stuff but being that the sport is new, it's hard to learn the spins without others input. I'm also in Florida where the wind is usually really light and fickle or strong and gusty ...

Re: advise on new setup - Armstrong vs Axis

I'm 175 lbs and the 1050 with an ensis 5.2 gets me going in 10 knots with power. I can stay on that foil well into 20+ knots and just drop the wind wing size. Once it's 15 knots then I can go on the 930 without pumping. Haven't found a high end limit to the 930 yet and I've been in over 40 knots wit...

Re: advise on new setup - Armstrong vs Axis

Axis for sure. Tons of options of foils with many more on the way. The 1050+930 is awesome for winging. Those are actually my favorite two foils to wing. If you were going to sup foil also then the 1150/910 set up. Also Axis has a super stiff mast which is great for the bigger foils. Armstrong has a...

Re: How about foot hooks for winging instead of straps?

Try some different foils also if you want better turning. Shorter fuselage and smaller rear wing will all increase turning speed and shorten turning radias. I ride my Axis stuff on the ultra short and crazy short fuselage with my biggest rear being a 370. Super loose.
