Modern AC75 high speed sailboats employ ellipsoid masts. These masts combined with sail strain control dynamically changes the airfoil profile of the sail. "Bleeding edge" technology. Simply amazing, take a look:
shortly before that I had a few short, strong gusts (see how I got hard tension followed by loss of tension) even slipping sideways, so I turned a little downwind, and was faster than the wind for a few moments, so kite fell down. At that point I decided to switch to Hawk, which can handle short/har...
While riding I had some very strong gusts >20 knots, it's hard to see in the video, but I got pushed sideways a few times and the wind was turning badly, so I stopped very soon and switched kites to a Hawk 12m... I like Kestrel, but in gusty/shifty wind I prefer Hawk. - Oliver Hi Oliver - Interesti...
Agree if you are keeping your 8mFX but if you are replacing it and sizing down from a 10mFX then 7mSB is what I’d choose. Using the 9m & 7m FX on a hydrofoil I noticed how good the loop control on the FX is and so is the pop to get started (in less than storm winds). Used 10m, 9m, 8m, 7m older IDS S...
Just one question, what IS aspect ratio of a LEI kite? Is it projected area or flat area versus (which) span, or??? A huge difference to almost flat foilkites, thus my question. Other parameters has a lot more impact than AR though, but that is another topic, I know. 8) Peter Agree other parameters...
gotta mention, as you know, our options are based on our weights, riding styles/goals, line lengths, hydrofoil sizes/shapes, wind ranges/gustiness, and more…
