Re: Challenging Realities of Life as a Pro Kiter

There's no money to be made in pro kitesurfing because nobody watches kitesurfing. Pro footballers or basketball players draw millions of eyes to TVs for dozens of games each year. The biggest kitesurfing event of the year (KOTA) barely gets 10,000 views on Youtube, and then there are basically no o...

this is a great example of trick that benefits enormously from practicing on a skateboard. Demystifying how to pass the leash beforehand is a big time saver.
You jsut gave me a great idea for early spring when the water is still freezing. Thanks!

Re: Kite Helmet

Helmets are required for formula kite racing and so you'll see all racers wearing helmets.

Re: Kiteboarding RIP ?

There are a ton of ways to have fun on the water. With or without wind. With or without waves. With or without motors. I only wish I had more time to spend on more of them. Even if I have my favorites, they’re not ideal for all conditions, and other people can have different favorites. Just have fun...

Re: Mast length as a function of body length

I have been playing around with masts of various length recently, and I think I see a correlation between mast length and the length of one's legs. My hypothesis is this: 1) The mast should not exceed the distance between the deck of the board and your centre of mass (COM; just below your navel). 2...

On my side of the planet salt dissolves in water really well. My guess is that you dissolved something different.
Yeah, I once went to this place called the ocean and it's full of water with salt dissolved in it.

Re: Slingshot UFO vs foil kite for light wind

Light wind is as much a specific skillset as it is a set of equipment. The biggest group of light-wind kitefoil experts are racers on giant foil kites. It's been demonstrated that all sorts of foils can get going in all sorts of wind, so there is a variety of ways you can probably make kitefoiling w...

Turns out you can wingfoil in 0 knots with a 0sqm wing too, if you're good enough at pumping.

What are your best filming angles while winging?

For a 360 cam or a traditional action cam. I've had decent luck doing this kiting , because line mounts get the camera away from the rider and the kite for a better view. But winging, the wing and board are all so close together. Example that doesn't look great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZpi8...
