Re: GoPro strut mount on a Slingshot kite

edt: Yours looks like it should work great, but I'm going with CaptainArg's idea. Only I am using the shell of an old kite pump. The beauty of that is I can laminate two pieces together with PVC cement to get just the right diameter and stiffness. I have enough old pumps that I can build one for eac...

Re: GoPro strut mount on a Slingshot kite

Cool ideas. I don't quite get what edt is getting at, but I'm going to try the PVC pipe idea. And I know some foam to line it with to avoid wear on the strut. I was thinking aluminum partial rings of that shape, but the PVC should be easier.

Thanks.

GoPro strut mount on a Slingshot kite

Has anyone found a way to put a GoPro camera on the struts of a Slingshot kite? I have three RPMs and a Turbine, and they have the "Splitstrut" construction, which means the struts are sewn to the canopy all the way up to the LE bladder. I use a line mount, but I since I have two GoPros, I'd like to...

How much power for darkslide?

I was trying to do my first darkslides yesterday, but problem was, the wind was slowly dying, and I waited for it to ease up just a bit too much before going for it. By then, I was powered on my 14M RPM lightly enough to do unhooked raleys without pulling the depower. When going for the darkslide, I...

Cool video. But...

Is it now uncool to do any move without a handle pass? Every time they got air at all, they did a handle pass.

Re: GoPro Hero 3 Black tips???

I don't know about dealing with the line setup of your kite, sorry. But I've been using a GoPro with a kite line mount for a couple years. Lately I've been putting the remote on my kite bar. Just a couple zip ties hold it on very secure and you can easily reach the buttons with your thumb. Do make s...

Re: What is the future of the sport?

The future of the sport is large drone quad copters as tow vehicles, designed and programmed to respond to control inputs from your control bar just like a kite would. No wind day? Pull out the quadcopter!

Very nice. I salute you, my fellow nutcase!

I did the same thing a few weeks ago, only it was even colder. Ice was forming on my drysuit.
