Re: Beginner with ultra long lines - intervene or not?

"Intervene" is a strong word for suggestions about someone's equipment choice. I like to offer assistance ("need any help?" or "let me know if you need any help"), but I wouldn't intervene unless someone was in a crisis and about to get hurt or hurt someone else. I know an older guy who is an excep...

Re: Old/Ancient gear - what is it good for?

....Absolutely nothin' say it again? Sorry lol! I spend money on gear, not that I have loads of excess to do so (and I'll always look for a bargain) but I try to keep my gear as new as I can afford. For the simple reason that I just want to kite, there's almost nothing I hate more than getting to th...

Re: New lines / weird problem / Ozone

Hey, Beardy. Ozone uses a bungee on its flag out line. It looks short when not under stress. But when the lines are under stress (like when the kite is flying), the bungee stretches and the flag out line assumes the correct length. I'm not sure this is what you're seeing, but maybe? Try pulling the...

New lines / weird problem / Ozone

Hi Guys, I recently fitted some new lines to my Ozone bar (v3 I think) I'm not sure if I'm being a whopper because I can't see how new lines could cause this issue on the bar but since I've done it it feels like the flag out line is too short? Like when you pull everything taut on the front lines th...

Re: Surviving a death loop

This actually saved me the other day. Not a death loop as such but I used the same technique. Got myself in a stupid situation with a partially deflated downed kite, I was drifting in and got a bit tangled on a "reef" of sorts, next thing I have my leg pressed against a column shaped rock with a ste...

Re: Light Wind - 25 or 27m lines

If it's your dedicated lightwind bar, I'd go longer. It's a negligible difference in 25 to 27m but I would lean towards longer for bigger blimps. I do notice the difference when I put 4m extensions on my 24m lines for lightwind. Doesn't someone on here use 34m or something super long? Grigori maybe...

Light Wind - 25 or 27m lines

Hi Guys, I need some replacement lines for my lightwind kite, it's a 17m Ozone edge, I'm not actually sure what the current line length is (they don't say and I can't be arsed measuring) I think they're 25m. Question, would you go for 25 or 27 metre lines? Will there be a noticeable difference? I'm ...

Re: Explosive Decompression! - No puncture.

Never seen that happen in a simple turn. I've often had kites loose air in the middle of a turn, but only after a really hard crash, where you just slam the kite into the ground and either the inflate valve or a strut valve pops open, you relaunch and then the kite instantly deflates. But after get...

Re: Explosive Decompression! - No puncture.

I'd have put the culprit as the Maxflow valve. Have heard about similar problems with Liquid force kites (same valve). Not heard about it during a turn though. Normally in a crash. I was leaning towards the valve, the fact it was almost instant and quite a lot of pressure but with no follow on symp...
