Re: Teaching small kids

I'd start off with the foil with a skateboard or strapless landboard. When it's time for the water, the foil is still fine, or add a 4M nano to your quiver. unhooked, no harness, no leash away from beach goers. Body drag without a board. Then body drag prone downwind on a surfboard. You could even u...

Re: Feet Protection

http://www.rei.com/product/722876 I've been using these for several years now. They last for about a season before they start falling apart. I used to use normal surfboard booties, but bruised my heel by stepping on something sharp sticking vertically out of the sand while walking on the beach. It t...

Re: Caution's "Going Green"

"partnering with local santa cruz companies to build environmentally sustainable products" That is a cool endeaver. But unless the new kites you are selling are made of "environmentally sustainable products" then it just sounds like advertising to sell your brand of kites. It would be better for the...

Re: Eclipse Kites welcomes Gabe Brown

I enjoy watching Gabe ride the 6M and 4M nano at my local spot. Can't wait to try one of these kites.

Re: are fast kites dangerous? (to a certain level)

One point is that kites turn faster as the wind gets faster. Put up a 1M foil in 10 mph versus 30 mph and you'll notice a difference in turning speed. Fast kites are dangerous to newbies for sure. But fast kites are addictive in trained hands. I've been where Toby is with big slow floaty kites. But ...

Re: Fins ???????

I don't have a definitive answer for your mako wide. But If I were you I'd pick up the 2.5" surf style fins from fins4sale, as it will be a $15 experiment. The base is 4" but the total length is 4 3/4" if blindly measuring the fin tip to where the base starts. I've never tried the race style fins wi...

Re: Best Footstraps For Waveriding

Kevin, Those footstraps are exactly what I've been looking for, for years. Nice job. The thing I hate about stock footstraps is they are too short or too narrow for my feet, I end up having to make custom risers for them to sit on. For twintips, I make homemade footstraps out of old (a tube wrapped ...

Re: Fins ???????

I agree with Bigdog, get some fins and start experimenting. Exchanging the stock fins and adding new ones has changed some mediocre (& sh*tty) boards into some really nice boards. I left stock fins on one side and put another set on the other. After a couple rides in different conditions you can goo...

Re: Skimboards

I made a plywood skim and hated it. I ended up buying a windwing skim, it's a good board, easy to ride. I just made a wakeskate, dimensions and shape like a Kampus. That board is sick. Planes as early as a skim, and tracks upwind as well too. The commercial wakeskates have rocker, so you need lots o...

Re: Buying q power lines

I used to buy it for $90 a spool but that store no longer carries it.
Now the best I can find it for is more like ~$120.
