To say that Aluula is "10x stronger" is a little misleading as strength has many different meanings. I assume they mean 10x stronger in tensile strength. However the material's resistance to shear or tearing/ cutting, torsional or twisting, abrasion resistance etc... may not be as impressive. There...
Working off my phone and headed to the lake for a few days with my family but wanted to share this link to our Instagram . It’s a video our team rider Reece made that shows a number of the GKA riders trying to tear a piece of the new Aluula fabric. While you’re there, be sure to give us a follow! :r...
Does this post ring any alarm bells for anyone? I think I have déjà vu! Understandably, we too had the same concerns... Aluula's composite material is entirely new, it is not Cuben Fibre. If material is that strong and LE/struts end up hat much stiffer then we can have thinner LE/struts and even li...
I'd love to have a strutless kite with this material. OR.... Given how much lighter the Flites are (3 strut) with the new materials, we feel strongly that the added benefit of rigidity / response / relaunch of the struts far outweighs (pun intended) the benefits of no strut version. That being said...
Lots to address here! I am sorry for the slow response, I work on the west coast of Canada. Is it waterproof? Having a light kite that didn’t get waterlogged would be fantastic for foiling. Yes, waterproof / non-absorbent. Makes for very easy re-launch and also, obvious weight savings for flight pos...
@orsales have you considered removing the bladder entirely? We've talked about that for years but it presents a lot of issues. It should be noted too though that the bladder works in harmony with the materials in this new design to really increase the frame's rigidity and response. It's almost impo...
Congrats! HDPE bladder? The bladders are also updated from traditional PU bladders but I can't say what they're made from - only that they are specifically engineered to work with the new airframe materials for an overall stiffer, more responsive airframe. this is really good news! is that material...
Had to edit the title of the topic a bit...so people don’t miss this... Sounds like a real amazing material...looking forward to see what’s happening with it. I saw Richard is at the German World Cup on Sylt, too bad I am missing it, on my way to Brazil. I hope you guys are at the huge testival end...
Jumping in here to help answer questions as they come up. Fair warning though: I'm going to be a little cheeky with my replies until we formally launch the new materials.
